people who are afraid of credit cards are either stupid or irresponsible.

I write a check for my rent... utilities and other large purchases go on my amazon visa; day-to-day expenses like groceries and gas go on my amex.

debit card. all my credit cards are for certain stores and are basically just for credit score purposes, i don't carry balances unless it's a no-interest promotion or something.

cash on occasion, checks never.

Credit card whenever possible without fees. If places charged less for cash transactions due to not having to pay fees I'd do debit or cash. But almost nobody does that. I get cash back with the card, pay it off in full so I never pay interest, and don't have to deal with change. Oh, and building credit is good.

Mostly credit card. I'm a deadbeat because I pay off my credit card bill every month.

Not really, they still make plenty from the fees sellers pass on to everyone. And they're not losing out on a real deadbeat that defaults on their debt.

Speaking of credit cards, it's time to cancel my Delta one now that those sign up rewards are spent and sign up for another airline's card.

Pretty much credit card for everything, usually don't have more than $10 on me at any time, and that just for the soda machine at work.

Online billpay for almost everything I can, and credit cards for most major purchases. I only use cash for small purchases under $20.

CC for EVERYTHING. Pay it off EVERY month.

WIN

I tried this, with the hope of earning free flights, hotel stays, etc.
Good news: in about a year, I earned 4 free plane tickets, and enough hotel points for 2 nice long weekend stays at the beach with the family.
Bad news: I learned that I don't have enough discipline and self-control to limit my CC spending to what I can afford to pay in full each month.

Using credit cards to earn cashback or hotel/flight rewards is good if you ALWAYS pay it off in full every month. If you accidentally spend too much and carry a balance, even for a short time, the finance costs quickly eliminate any financial benefit of the rewards you earn.

So I'm back to using the debit card for all my expenses.

credit card.
get cash back rewards.
always pay off bill on time so no interest/late fees.

people are crazy not to take this route.

Most of my money is spent on my Mortgage/Utilities/Insurance/etc. That's all paid online.

Other expenses are probably paid 70% Credit Card (paid off in full every month) and 30% Cash.

What's the amazon visa? Are you getting cashback rewards or money towards amazon purchases? I could use some amazon cash for more computer goods.

I might use $150.00 cash per month.

The rest, around 10x that amount, is spent on credit cards for miles. I turn around and pay them off every month.

I run everything through my Costco Amex for the cash back option. Gas, food, etc. Dang, i should investigate if I can get cash back if I pay my mortgage using Amex. 😀
