Maybe, but usually on things you know, less obvious. :)

It's not that obvious, especially when you have people mis-pronouncing it was WAH-lah and you don't hear the V. It's not that intuitive, just like epitome.. that was a strange one.

Fair enough, but I can't say I've ever heard it pronounced that way. Maybe I just hang around with people that can pronounce things more correctly than not.
