I say S Q L. I think either way is acceptable, its three damn letters.
I say S Q L, because sequal sounds like slang.

i say sequel but i don't think it really matters

Sequel is actually wrong because there was a database language prior to SQL called Sequel.
So apparently most geeks don't know any better.![]()

I've always thought that the language was said S-Q-L, but if you were refering to SQLServer, it is "sequel server." I am probably wrong, but I've heard it enough both ways that I don't think you will look like an idiot.

SQL is not a language.
Oh I've always used sequel.

I'm in a couple database classes at school and it seems that when referring to SQL they actually spell it out S-Q-L. However everytime I've heard someone say it in the real world they always refer to it as "sequel" like a sequel to a movie. Which way is the right way to say it?? I just don't want to look like an idiot when it comes time for a job interview.
