How do you keep track of your to do list?

I have your solution. I told it to a friend a week and a half ago, saw her today and she said it has saved her life.
Get a legal pad, and keep a constant to do list. Write on it, fold it up, and keep it in your left back pocket (non-wallet pocket) AT ALL TIMES!
I do this and it has literally saved my GPA and 2 separate jobs since I was working full time and going to school full time last semester.
I also put m beside a day if the task is in morning, n for night. If it is a specific time I write that next to the day.
Ex list:
TO DO
Rm - Passport @ post office (R is thursday btw)
R - check status on vid cad RMA
Rn - Write references
Fm - Dentist 10 am
F - Update resume
Sat - work 7am-6pm
nxt week - Job Hunt
R - 4368 HW#4
And so on. Cross off what you have done (make's me feel great since I can see what I have accomplished) and once your list is getting full transfer whatever isn't crossed off onto a new list.
The reason this works so well is you ALWAYS have it. I am the same as you, things come and go memory wise. I walked into the office 2 hours ago (it's 100 feet from my apt) and forgot what I was doing. Pulled out the list, bam I remembered.
Also, you can put stuff on the list anytime as long as you have a pen or pencil.
I hope you at least try this out for a while, it really does work. GOOD LUCK!

pen and paper, I usually make several copies and leave one in my purse, and on one my desk. I have a million things going on right now. It's driving my nuts!!

Lists! I know a guy who said he doesn't make lists (well, I never met him in person, but he was kind of a star in a certain online forum). That's stuck in my head... i.e. I think of him and what he said from time to time.
Thing is, I don't always but sometimes I make lists. I don't think it's a good idea to do it constantly. Reason is you can (I do) end up with a lot of lists and that gets to be a hangup.
I did use Outlook and I still have my Outlook.pst file and if I open outlook theres a lot of stuff there and it would probably freak me out a little to see that. I had annual reminders, monthly reminders, all kinds of stuff.
Sometimes it's better if you can let your mind take care of that stuff. Yeah, easy to say and I admit that sometimes it's a bummer if you think of something you want to do and two minutes later I'm going "what was it that I just made up my mind to do, I forget now!"
Prioritization is where it's at. Priorities change, it's a fact of life, but a list doesn't change. The mind is a wonderful thing. Take advantage of it!
PS I also have used Essential PIM, a freebie that has a small footprint and will import Outlook information. Being small, it's more portable. I haven't taken advantage of its portability. I really started using it because I don't use Outlook for mail.

Well, that might be great, don't know. What I do use is a database program that I wrote myself (I'm a database programmer, professionally) and it's quite incredible. The program started out very small and modest and I used it to keep track of important information when I was the tech support specialist for a commercial 3rd party program. I've since fleshed it out to be a do-everything virtually artificial intelligence program. It stores information in tables, and I have around 200 of these tables and they're all searchable. The way I have it set up right now I have to remember which table is appropriate for the specific information I'm looking for because that's the only one that the program will search in. That can be a problem, but it usually isn't. Even when I can't remember I always manage to find what I'm looking for. I keep all kinds of information in those tables. Largely, it's technical information or anything I think I might want to remember at some future time that I know I will not remember otherwise. For example if I do a complicated repair on my bike's derailleur and know I won't have to do another such repair for several years I know I'll never remember all the little details unless I document them. So, I do it in the computer and can easily find it x years down the line. It's been very very handy. The program is full of neat self maintenance features I built into it.

I'm VERY anal about having a to-do list. GOTTA have one. (I just can't help myself!) I've always kept one when I know I have several things I want/need to do, and if I do something NOT on the list, I add it then check it off too! (my psych instructor says it's because I'm an ISTJ )
Since starting school after being out for over 35 years, I find having one makes it easier to keep track of homework assignments, my household chores & appointments,etc., and keep on something of a schedule. Nothing "techy" for me, just a pen & nootpad for now, but have considered one of the freeware programs to make it easier.

for work, i email myself, and if it's not done, i keep it "unread" in Outlook. when it's done, i mark the email as "read".
for personal stuff, i email myself in gmail, and if it's not done, i keep it in my inbox. once the task is done, i archive it, thus removing it from the inbox.
this works very well, since i really like having 0 unread emails at work, and i don't like emails unarchived for personal stuff.

make a notepad file and save it on your desktop as to do.txt. it should contain whatever you need...to do basically.
nah...reformat will be much trouble especially if development on kids v1.0 has already started 😉 If kids v1.0 is already released, then don't even bother reformatting.
Also, any version of mistress and wife together on the same system at the same time results in complete system failure sooner or later.
I would just refuse to pay those unnecessary charges for wife v1.0 (they continue to increase every month, sometimes without notice). You will still have to do occasional maintainance for wife v1.0 though as that software is quite buggy and tends to crash without notice for any reason.
