large, powerful hands. I knead so hard that it's right on the verge of hurting. In this case, pain leads to pleasure. Women just melt in my hands. Muahaha -- it's hardly even fair.

/me wonders what sort of colorful replies I'll get

what are your special techniques that have proved successful?

Going to a spa and buying a gift certificate good for one massage.

bad massage = rubbing in one spot over and over again. May as well use sandpaper....

It's like getting to Carnegie Hall - practice practice practice

I just remember what works best from massages I've gotten and incorporate them into mine. Good lotion works wonders too... creme based ones are my favorite - last long without drying out the skin or leaving it too oily.

I have yet to give someone a massage where they don't say "you're hired!" or offer me sex and/or money in return. It just scares me when I get that offer from a guy. Ick.

I just did a day at the spa Wed :) I can tell yoiu that a good part of a great massage is in setting the right atmosphere, the right lighting, a good surface/table to work on, having your oils heated etc :)

I start in the pelvic area right away, no sense wasting any time. J/K

You have to work along the lines that the muscle naturally follows, it helps to understand a little bit about anatomy of the muscoskeletal system. The back has a group of muscles that run along each side of the spine. The shoulders have a unique 'triangular' muscle pattern, so you work along the sides of that triangle.

Try to avoid rubbing directly over bony points because that can be uncomfortable (read painful). A good massage relies on a certain amount of resistance, otherwise it would be like pushing a sack of Jello around. There is a special technique for thick and 'squishy' muscular areas which have no definite 'lines' such as buttocks, but if I told you, I'd have to kill you (as someone else mentioned). Don't forget the neck, arms, thighs, calves, and the FEET! Foot massages can be pretty damned erotic, its one area that is often neglected. I'm telling ya, if you get the foot massage right, you can screw everything else up. ;-)

It takes a bit of practice, at first you have to get input from the person(s) you're massaging, so you know what you're doing 'good' and what you're not. You learn a person's 'spots', and how they like you to massage them. After you have some experience, you can find them on your own with little or no direction.

Massage oil or massage mousse helps the skin to feel better and your hands tie less quickly. Just pay attention to what the person reacts well to or badly to. A good massage really depends on the person's physical makeup.

Use oils instead for the massage, not cremes. Then, when the massage is done, jump into a steamy shower or spa! Slowly bring water to a simmer...

I second the foot massage!

If done right, it is better than a full body massage!

While I don't want to discourage the use of massage oils, different strokes for different folks and all, but a GOOD massuse needn't use a drop of oil. First, its messy and often impractical. Second, it can break people's skin out. Third, you NEED a certain amount of resistance, and oil can make skin too slippery to produce a DEEP massage.

You can tell you're producing a DEEP massage when the reaction is "OMG [grunt] what are you doing? JESUS, that [groan]...that feels [ugh]...OH CRAP...that hurts!" Then you ask, "Do you want me to stop?" and their response is "JESUS NO!" The pain is not that you're hurting them, but that you're rubbing the tension and soreness out of their muscles. Its the "good" hurt.

I never use oils, unless we're talking about one of those evenings where I'm working towards some passionate albiet slippery activities in the sack! Not every massage is going to end in mad and furious love-making. ;-)
