They were probably dropped on the floor then used as dildos before they got to the store.

I wanted to respond to this...but I wanted to make sure I used the correct wording so I thought really a long time to come up with this:

*puke*

hotdogs or hotdog-like sausages...

I've recently been converted to pan frying... throw the meat into a pan with a dash of olive oil for a couple minutes and done. if I'm making hotdogs, I'll throw the bun on the pan too to get it a little crispy.

obviously grilling is the preferred method, but I do what I can without one and it beats the crap out of the microwave.

olive oil? seriously? rachel ray has really corrupted people.

I've got like a tiny bit of olive oil let in my jar and I'm trying to use it up before it goes bad... otherwise I'd probably just use butter.

I like the taste of olive oil too, though.

Stick the pot of water in the microwave. It'll boil faster.

just make sure the pot is way too small for the amount of water and that you leave it in there for 25 minutes.

either microwave or cook in water (steam the bun too).

if you want it crispy, just kinda butterfly it open (cut almost all the way in half) and throw it meaty side down on a skillet.

30 seconds in microwave. Why should meal time turn into this epic 3 day adventure that takes 3 days to complete. Boiling water takes like an hour.

Olive oil is the worst thing ever. It has a low smoke point meaning it smokes like shit, and it tastes like shit meaning it will make everything cooked in it taste like shit.

You really, really need to learn a little bit more about cooking. Are you a hobo trying to cook over a candle in a tin can? I know you are exaggerating, but really, I get a pot of water boiling in about 4 minutes. Then after saying you should just microwave it because it is quicker, you say that olive oil tastes like shit? You need to buy better olive oil. It does not have to be expensive, but it should have a distinct lack of shit flavoring.

EDIT: To the OP, for hotdogs I go with a combo method. I put weiners in a skillet and fill half covered with water then cover and cook until the weiners are hot. I generally try to keep it at a low simmer, but this method is pretty forgiving.

You can get a wenie roasting stick and cook it over a gas burner on your range for that nice crispy, grill-like char.

Boil in water until they're just starting to split apart, put them on bun, cover in copious amounts of bean-less chili and shredded cheese with mustard.

Cold weiners are ok, but if these are actually sausages, you HAVE to cook them. Grill is best way imo as the fats fall out. Otherwise a panini press (not pressed down) or pan may work ok. May even be able to just put them in the stove.

Or pass 240 volts through it. I hear that actually works well.

i like grilled dogs, but i dont mind steamed/ boiled. its my most used method. when its a late dinner and i have limited time, microwave is fine also. for a snack, kids and i arent afraid of a cold hot dog. its actually pretty good. while i prefer a good steak or chop, im not a meat snob. ill eat a hot dog.

i guess some people don't realize that the real name for 'hot dog' should be 'baloney stick.'

that said, for some reason i won't eat them cold, but i will eat cold baloney sandwiches.

would definately not eat good deli hot dogs without cooking- if you've never had a good boar's head hot dog packed in genuine intestines, you're missing out.

Since I store all my hotdogs in the freezer, that's not possible.

For serious. Once I got these things called "popsicles." I took one out of the freezer and I, like, totally couldn't eat it. Forty or fifty minutes in the microwave and I had delicious sweet and colorful soup.

So you suggest sucking on a frozen wiener?
