How do you answer the phone?

Friend (ring tone tells me) ..."Hi" "Yo" "leave me alone", etc.

Unknown ... I say "Please leave a message after the beep......beep"

Then I can listen to what they have to say, and if I'm interested or it's someone I want to talk to, just start talking. No need for an answering machine!

But, wow, does that confuse some people.

I say Chello in my best JJ Evans impersonation followed by one of his lines from when he answered the phone. About 30% seem to get it and chuckle. The rest seem to be lost

I will answer Moshi or Moshi Moshi for a telemarketer and then say in japanese "My what an ugly baby you are!"

they usually just hang up and I never hear from them again.

At work I typically would say "Hello this is Babbles speaking." Sometimes I would throw in a "Good Morning" or "Good Afternoon" but I spoke to people on both left and right coasts so sometimes I didn't know if it was morning or afternoon for them.

At home if it is a good friend I just answer with their name. Sometimes I throw in a "ello." If it is a number I do not recognize I typically do the work thing and answer it as "Hello this is Babbles speaking."

Same here. If I dont know the number or if its blocked I just dont pick up. I hate being on the phone. Even do this at work.
