Fairly hard worker at what? Grifting campaign funds? I may have misread this. Were you talking about Joe or Trump?

Trump was a lazy POS, so I was talking about Biden. Compared to the prior guy, he probably puts in 10 times the work throughout his day. Let's see how many guys his age are putting in the days he does, no wonder he's sleepy.

If you like corruption and totalitarian style government, keep voting Democrat. I guess some people are looking forward to an extra 87k IRS employees.
Man why do Republicans shit the bed at the thought of someone making sure their taxes are paid? You all sound like a bunch freeloaders.

Also the IRS needs massive amounts of technology investments to make ulp for the decades of deliberate neglect. To be a functioning first world country we need a functioning first world tax system.

Unless your are a criminal why do you care if their are more law enforcement officers going after tax fraud?

Personally, I have never been a fan of defunding law enforcement and oppose all republican attempts to undercut law enforcement.

You think votes count anymore after Republicans rigged it to favor them from now until eternity??

The republic is dead. If it were a person.. the person would be brain dead and we're fighting over which organs we can save right now.

Brandonbull just mad that the American people are trying to make sure that the wealth isn't directly siphoned up by the 0.02% ruling class, such as in mafia states like his beloved Russia. Strengthening the IRS is only a bad thing for would-be autocrats and the untalented, privileged lazy class, that he worships.

Every day, he sees more and more of Putin, and wishes more and more and more how Putin could come to the US, and improve it so that it looks and feels more like Russia. This is what the GOP desires, quite explicitly. Strengthening these regulatory agencies and services (like the USPS) after decades of targeted sabotage by his class of GOP shitheals is one of our frontline tools for dealing with these attempts to shift the United States into the autocratic theocracy that they so desperately want.

We will get nothing but the same ridiculous, non sequitor talking points out of these unread idiots forever now, about these necessary improvements. Because it damages their desire to live in the fascist totalitarian state that they need, where the only daily task they have, and want, is to publicly display fealty to Dear Leader, then get back on with their proud and meagre lives of mud-eating.

Why are you afraid, are you a tax cheat?

90% of people take the std deduction, what is there to worry about?

More than happy if the IRS goes after fraudsters like Trump. Better than raising my taxes or running unneeded deficits.

The recent bills in Congress have greatly improved my approval in Ds.

Skeptical of how much Biden was involved, but it got done.

Still think he's weak in 24, but bench is thin. Much prefer dotarding centrist, industrialist Biden over some far left woke socialist progressive.

I totally am. I pay my taxes and don't cheat the government (or more accurately my fellow Americans ) of their dues. I want others to do the same. Bring on the 87K IRS employees please! There should be one IRS agent per millionaire at the minimum if you ask me.

A couple people in this thread have pondered if not Joe Biden, then who? The biggest factor is electability in the general election; and unfortunately Kamala Harris and Sen. Warren don't fare well in past polling vs. a GOP opponent. Pete Buttigieg feels to me like he could win a general election, but it'd be pretty tight. It's sad that in a nation of 330M people, our "bench is thin" and the GOP's roster would make for a fine group of insurrectionists if they weren't elected officials grifters.

The question of whether to support Biden again is moot. Although Biden's approval rating is bad today, if he ultimately runs, he will secure the nomination. If he's under any threat of being primaried, that means he's dead in the general election anyway. If Biden chooses to step down, then Dems have to find the best candidate to win. If we want to lose, then we'd elevate Harris so I hope we're not that dumb LOL.

If the presidential election was held today and it was (D) vs Ron Death Santis, I think RDS would lose the popular vote and win the Electoral College. Thankfully, we still have two years for inflation to get tamped down and for disaffected voters to regain their senses.

Not much to add to what has been said already. While I'm disappointed that there is not as much progress as I would have liked, I do realize that this is due to Manchin/Sinema blocking a lot of the legislation. Do I wish things were better? Yes. However, considering the hand Biden has been dealt - he's doing more than alright.

So yes, I would vote for him in 24 if he's on the ballot. I may not necessarily vote for him in the primary if there is a challenger, but I'm not voting for any republican in the general ever. The only two republicans that openly and unequivocally opposed Trump and GOP establishment when it was not politically advantageous to do were Justin Amash and Adam Kinzinger. The rest of the party is completely rotten.

I will vote straight ticket for whoever the Democrats nominate in the general. But in primary, I'll see what the options are.

Likewise.

Biden has done better than I had anticipated he would, for the most part. Very impressed over the last year or so, he's done a lot of good with not a lot to work with, also obstruction. If Trump somehow gets to run again, which he definitely shouldn't on account of the sedition and treason, I would want Biden to run against him. He beat Trump like a drum, just like he said he would, and I believe he can do it again thanks to his record thus far in office.

Someone else running for the Trumpists, like Ron DeathSenteance for instance, would give Biden a harder time, mostly over age I'm guessing.

Biden won a bigger pool with worse cards than any Democratic president ever. He won that pool because Manchin gave Biden more loyalty under more adverse conditions than the moderate Democrats of 2009 gave to President Obama.

This op piece was written last December, before the recent legislative wins by the Comeback Kid, Joe Biden. :tearsofjoy:

Although budget reconciliation is obviously extremely powerful, Biden/Congressional Dems have overachieved immensely considering they have 48 Senators, a DINO (Joe Manchin) and an oddball.

I can sympathize with people leery of the 87k IRS agents. If you think they're going to get much done against large companies and billionaires with scores of accountants and attorneys then you're likely naive. It's going to end up doing more harm to small business and people that make honest mistakes which don't have the resources of the big dogs and put big business at an advantage ... this is something Republicans would be for. Supposedly there's something about not aiming at people making under 400k than they otherwise already would but that's an additional exercise in naive. Not to mention, isn't it the largest hiring drive in history during non-wartime? Shouldn't the private sector have achieved the largest hiring drive instead of government? It's saddling the government with extra billions per year in expenses, that money should have been spent toward improving technologies so you don't have to hire all those people that you have to keep paying year after year. Are those new agents going to be able to recover and profit more than what they're getting paid? Maybe, and if they do, it's the average person and small business owner that will pay the price while Bezos and Musk laugh.

It seems part of the problem with the bench is the lack of D governors, at least the ones likely to move to national office. They keep pushing senators.

Gore, Kerry, Obama, H Clinton and now Biden.
Last D gov was Bill Clinton.

Put all 87k on Trump Org. I'll call that money well spent.

Realistically, they will never fill 87k with such a tight labor market.

I really don't feel bad tho. All my chances to itemize got killed by the Rs and the TCJA, while they set up a bunch more tax breaks for the rich. Fuck em if they still get caught cheating.

I already have voted for a female Dem to be President - Secretary Clinton in 2016.

But there are others ... Gretchen Whitmer, Elizabeth Warren, Amy Klobuchar and Rhode Island's Gina Raimondo.

I don't believe New York's Kathy Hochul would make a strong candidate and unfortunately, folks might not warm up to Stacey Abrams.

But right now, I'm sticking with Joe Biden, who's evolved from the guy who opposed school busing and who supported the 1994 Crime Bill.

I admire a man and a woman who can change. Joe did. I'm with Joe.
