I get them almost daily, what you described doesn't sound like a migraine. Does she get vision blurring? Tracers on her vision? Stomach ache, vomiting, numbness in limbs, etc?

Thx alot. I didnt know which symptoms occur more then others since there was a long list and some where there and others not. I guess its not a migraine.

One of the common things migraine sufferers mention is the belief that the pain might go away if they die:(

She really needs to go to the doctor & try some different medications, there's some stuff out there that really works.

If she won't go, a couple aspirin & a strong cup of coffee may help, but sounds like she'll need to get some prescription meds.

How old is she btw?

If it only happened once you probably don't need to take her to the doctor..

migraine: extreme sensitive to light/sounds....gets so bad it can happen you have to vomit

Otherwise...go to a doctor...or even emergency room..they can help

If your mom 'jerks' because its so bad....why are you not on your way to a doc/er already ??????

You HOPE it's only a migraine.

The brutal, frank truth... she could be dead in short order.

Will she? I don't know, but no one else does either. Get it checked out.

Mine are almost the exact feeling of a really bad brain freeze from eating ice cream. I also just get the regular old bad headaches where it feels like your head is trying to pressurize. I wasn't going to say this in case she has an aneurysm or something but maybe your mom is just a wuss.

Its the first time its happened and didnt go away since yesterday. If it doesnt go away or at least get milder by today shes gonna go to a doctor. Or so she says... mid 40s btw.

People here basically have all the symptoms covered. The main ones for me is a blindspot (before it sets in), nausea and sensitivity to light. I'm basically bed-ridden for a good 3-5 hours. I do feel like I wanna die. The pain is so unbearable there's no relief unless you take prescription drugs like Zomig or Imitrex. And even then you can feel something weighing down on your head. Can hardly make it to the toilet to puke.

MSG is what causes it for me. Do you know what she ate or did just before this came on ?

It hasn't gone away yet?

Have her drink a lot of caffeine, it helps expand her vessels which are very constricted right now causing the pain. Place cold towels over her face everywhere except her mouth and have her lay in a quiet, dark room. If it's gone on longer than a day take her to the ER and they'll most likely give you some IV drugs to help relieve it. It's quite serious that it's not gone away in such a long time since she's prime canidate for stroke at that age and with those symptoms.

Blurred vision, total aversion to any light/sound, nausea, dizziness, and of course exquisite pain.

Whenever somebody says they "have a migraine" and they're still functioning properly, they don't have one. Except in a very few cases, when somebody has a migraine they lose their ability to operate properly as they normally would. I've personally never had one, but I have had a headache so stunning before (from a hangover :D) that I think I have a taste of what a migraine would be, and yet I still think it was less than many migraines.

I live with it daily sometimes, it comes in spurts. I have one right now actually but I have really strong prescription meds so I can function.

It varies according to what type of migraine you suffer from. For me, it means nausea, photosensitivity and pain behind the eyes.

My moms the type of person who goes if she HAS to. But it seems like shes starting to break down =). Shes starting to get paranoid and told me a story about a man who had pains in his chest and got it checked out and there was a bug living/feeding in him. Hopefully this is a good sign and shes gonna go to a doctor.

Hopefully your mom doesn't have a camel spider growing in her chest cavity.

Trust me, she has way too much caffeine as it is...

Just the opposite. If you had it since you were a child then it would be no big deal but a sudden explosion like that is a big warning sign.

Not neccesarily, migraines could be brought on by environmental conditions out of her control. If it's a repeated thing at that age, that's when you need to worry. If it happens once as an isolated event it's not that bad.
