Now that you posted this it does.

A system designed to kill? Or save the lives of our troops by giving them a superior edge in combat? Point of view is everything.

Very few people even realized the serial numbers had any other meaning, and only the looniest of left are still whining about it.

Yes, because secret serial numbers on scopes are converting muslims in record numbers 🙄.

This is exactly the sort of deliberately obtuse reply I was referencing in the first place. Perfect in every way.

I know that if my son was in a life or death gunfight, any little help from above to help would be a benefit and it seems that is what the builders of the ACOG scopes had in mind...They were thinking of our young men and woman in battle and giving them an unknown lift. Simple...

That reeks of mock piety. When all else fails, claim God is on your side, even if you have to do it in an elliptical fashion.

It's what Jesus would have wanted....

It does seem a bit backwards and ironic to use scripture on a gun site, especially some of the scriptures they chose... But as I often say, "who cares?" This is not a big deal and really does not perpetuate any lack of separation between church and state. I think it is fairly obvious that the contrast between the scripture used and the purpose of a gun site invalidates the very message of the scripture used, negating the claim that this is somehow a joiing of church and state. Ridiculously obvious. This makes me question why the scripture was put on the sites to begin with. I suppose it could be thought of as some type of "talisman" effect, but in that sense the real meaning of the the words is still invalidated.

I think we should just announce to the Muslim world it's crusade time again, but this time it's for Mecca. Then we all convert to the one true American Islam and take over.

You don't understand the symbolism of having Bible verses on our weapons? Or do you really think that symbolism has no meaning to the Muslim world?
Weinstein said coded biblical inscriptions play into the hands of those who call the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan "a Crusade."

Oh right, I'm sure you rightwing religious fanatical idiots know better than the military. I guess you better start writing your angry letters because the inscriptions have been removed, for a reason http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/22/us/22guns.html

This issue was dealt with by people who know better and actually fight the war and deal with the consequences of stupid shit like this, so you bible thumping chickenhawks need to stop arguing the pro-bible-verses-on-military-weapons side and recognize that you were fundamentally wrong.

OK so our troops have bible versus on their scopes, the people we are fighting are fighting in the perverted name of Islam. It all equals out.

Why is a company that produces products used to kill things inscribing Bible anything on their optics?

Makes sense this does not.

When this story came out earlier this year, it was funny to me because the ABC News video used video from an ACOG review by one of my favorite Youtubers, sootch00.

Supposedly this is huge and an outrage but the military has been using marked Trijicon sites for years and not a peep from anyone.

I like how the section of the sootch00 video ABC choose to show has him laughing and saying how he loves it, then says "if you're not a Christian, well, get over it".

Now that the inscriptions have been off the scopes for 6 months, do the Iraqi and Afghani insurgents love us?

If true then get those fucking verse references off our gear so we won't be fighting in the perverted name of Christianity. If we are as balanced in our psychosis as they, it really doesn't matter who wins.

So sad the bigot religious nit wits can't see what it is they are really saying.

A couple very small cryptic letters and numbers used as part of a serial number by a scope manufacturer...oh the horrors! Meanwhile we spend billions of dollars and a few thousand precious lives on an unwinnable war.

U.S. Military Weapons Inscribed With Secret 'Jesus' Bible Codes

Pentagon Supplier for Rifle Sights Says It Has 'Always' Added New Testament References

Coded references to New Testament Bible passages about Jesus Christ are inscribed on high-powered rifle sights provided to the U.S. military by a Michigan company, an ABC News investigation has found.

Brian Ross looks at the biblical verses written on firearms.

The sights are used by U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and in the training of Iraqi and Afghan soldiers. The maker of the sights, Trijicon, has a $660 million multi-year contract to provide up to 800,000 sights to the Marine Corps, and additional contracts to provide sights to the U.S. Army.

What do you expect?

It makes perfect sense, since people have been using Jesus to wage wars and kill people for how many centuries now?
