How do people wear suits every day?

BFG10K

At work I can wear anything I like as long as it isn't scruffy or offensive. So jeans, t-shirt, sweatshirt, etc. No problem throwing it all together in the washing machine whenever I please.

Do people who wear suits every day also dry-clean them every day? Or do you wear it the whole week/month and then do it?

Wouldn't daily cost an absolute fortune? And weekly/monthly get really nasty, especially for pants which directly contact skin?

I would hate having to dress up every day. I'm glad my company is easy going with that. Even managers don't really need to dress up. Even shorts are allowed. Though I think the linemen and outside techs might have a bit more strict rules due to safety and also being more customer facing, but it's also not a suit, either.

I have to wear a suit once in awhile, and I generally get it dry cleaned roughly every 10 wearings. The shirt is washed every time, though.

I fucking love wearing a suit! A well fitted 3 piece with braces and cufflinks. It's like getting strapped up in armour!
I never get the chance to wear one nowadays. Just weddings and funerals.

Geezus...I haven't owned a suit in over 30 years. I got tired of seeing it hang in the closet unworn...so I just donated it to Goodwill or someplace similar. (it must have been 10 years out of date at that time) 😛

Don't be a baby, if you want to wear a suit, wear a damn suit! There's no requirement for people to walk around dressed like "Generic Person #3" all the time.
I wear a uniform for work and spend a lot of my spare outside time tramping across muddy fields or cycling to local pubs, neither of which are ideal for suits!

Putting one on just to watch TV would be odd!

Well...judging by your user name...you ARE Welch...odd seems to be the norm for youse folks. 😛

Do it anyway. I said "don't be a baby" AND HERE YOU ARE GOING WAAAAH WAAAAH WAAAAAH. Ya need a fuckin' lolly, ya wee babe?
I shall turn up at the local pub in a suit on the weekend then. It'll be your fault that everyone will think I'm some sort of crazy Royalist! (Charley boy gets crowned on the weekend in some massive burning of public money)

And I shall REVEL in my blame!

Agreed. I enjoy my regular visits to the city and seeing people dressed in all sorts of fashions and stuff - whether I think it's awesome or ridiculous or just interesting or sleek or goofy fun. It's just fun to see different things - people watching is interesting.

I would not want to wear a suit every day at all, simply because of comfort, but I do get to wear the single slim fit suit I own once a year or so, and it's fun to look sleek and suited up here and there when things fit right and are stylish. It's not what I want to do more than a few times a year, but it's fun when you do. Plenty of ways to look good without wearing a suit but also, if you like it, wear it when appropriate. Did a few NYE events that were suit required, and a charity ball for artists last year that was suit based for men, but creative. I had a blue suit jacket, black slim fit dress pants, white shirt, shoes, and a glittery blue bow tie that matched my date's dress, which was a vintage dress she got for like 10 bucks, looked stunning in, and had artsied it up with this cool design using the some thread, shells, and blue glittery fabric she made my bow tie out of. People got quite creative with their evening wear at that ball - it was a blast.

After it was over my date and I both said that was super fun, but I can handle that type of event only once in a while. Can't imagine being all dressed up every weekend.

Glittery bow tie action photo for proof of my glitter love, and her homemade crown (the ball theme was some water theme, hence the shells). Had a glitter fabric kerchief in my jacket pocket too.

JC Penney has some blue satin dinner jackets. Look ridiculous, but I want one. I'd probably only ever actually wear it once or twice though, so wifey says no.

I'd actually really like a tux. Might as well look damn good of I'm going to get dressed up, but don't want to shell out the money. And would still need a suit for some work meetings.

That would be fun, catch it on sale then maybe bust it out. I think your wife might end up loving it 🤔

A nice sleek tux is tough to beat, but yeah, why pay for one unless you have ponyo money 🤷

I don't want a lifestyle where I'd need to own a tux, and if you don't have unlimited funds then, why bother?

This girl I'm seeing mentioned a burlesque show called Duane Park in the city. Very well produced. They say on their website, feel free to dress to the nines if you wish, and there is a slight dress code (no jeans, collared shirts required)

Could wear a tux there, but I'd rather buy camping gear or headphones 😂
