I didn't mean for moving. Just day to day things. You want to go buy a tv, grill, air compressor, a table, anything like that. Most of it won't fit in a car.

You can still rent a van for this for the day. Its called u-haul or ryder. If it is cheaper to rent a truck for a day or a van because they have several sizes from a pu to a boxed truck and even a semi then I would rent. If delivery is cheaper then I will have it delivered.

Obviously a lot of you:

A) Don't own a house

or

B) Do not have any sort of handy skills in which large items (drywall, backerboard, etc) are needed.

And in most parts of the world, Home Depot or Lowes are 30 minutes away if not more. The leaves 15 minutes to unload.

This is a lane only for bicycles and mopeds. Copenhagen is only 2nd to Berlin in having most of these.

Yep. Most of ATOT sucks like that. Frankly, we have 4 means for conveying cargo. 1 is our offroad truck (not-street-legal.) Prettymuch firewood collected from the nearby areas. Another is the turbovan, which, with the seats removed, has the capacity of a compact pickup. The third is the big van, which can EASILY swallow almost anything. The fourth, which only comes about once in a blue moon when we need to move excessively bulky items on-road, is to borrow a part of my uncle's electrician business' fleet.

I think the perfect urban assault vehicle would be a mid size truck crew cab with a V6 or an I4 turbo diesel.

You'd get decent mileage, it wouldn't be miserable to park or live with in the city and it'd make weekend warrior duties simple.

Also, Chrysler sells a common rail I4 in it's mini vans overseas, add a trailer hitch & you're good to go...

The Toyota Hilux

The powertrain is the powerful 2.5 Litre D-4D, common rail turbo diesel, delivering excellent performance, fuel consumption and importantly 20,000 mile service intervals*. Also on offer, should you feel the need, is a power upgrade option that takes the output from 102bhp to an exhilerating 128bhp delivering 300 Nm of torque.

Right, because everybody buys 30k trucks..
lol

My truck cost me 6k and its worth every penny, 1997 Ford F150, 5.4 liter, 4x4, tow package, offroad package, lariat.

Quoted For Truth

In the past month, I have bought a nice used scroll saw on a table, Craftsman tool chest, cabinets, lots of 18ft trim, chipper/shredder, tiller, lots of lumber, and other misc stuff.

Try hauling all that in a civic. and thats only in the past 30 days or so.

They borrow a truck.

Yep...I bought a grill and some patio furniture and I had to borrow my friend's Sportage to get it home. I guess it's high time I get something bigger than a Civic, and with kids coming in the forseeable future, this 2-door deal just isn't going to cut the mustard much longer.

I got tired of destroying the interior of my trunk/backseat and always having to borrow my dad's truck all the time so I opted to get a truck when I switched vehicles a few years ago. The mileage isn't as good as a mid-sized car (although it's not really that bad either as mine is a small truck), but the convenience factor more than offsets it for me personally.

I'm always hauling around stuff for some work I do for a local soccer club in my spare time so it works out great for me as I have a legitimate need for the bed space at least 8 months out of the year. But most people can probably get by with their occasional need for a truck by borrowing/renting.

I bought a sh!tkicker truck to haul things to and from at the same time we bought our house. Although it is an added expense, we have the room for it, and it comes in handy many times a month. Plus, our friends all stock my liquor cabinet for borrowing it :)

dodge grand caravan with the seats out hauls a heckuva lot. Plus, you can put a couple of king sized mattresses on the roof rack. I most recently used the van to haul 4 kayaks and 3 passengers... all were fit inside; we didn't even bother with the roof rack.

It's a PITA having only sedans, but we make do. I've borrowed a truck once and a friend's van once. Mainly trucks are a waste of time. Nice when you need them, but otherwise it's just a huge bed you're carrying around and trucks invariably drive like horse sh*t. Total garbage if you're used to a car with any kind of suspension on it.

Agreed. Trucks are nice to have when you need them but 99% of the time you aren't hauling anything but yourself around at 12mpg.

Honestly, some people here would have you believe that the instant you buy a home that you need a truck. I guess if your house is some old falling down POS in the middle of buttfvckistan I can see needing a truck but most of us don't fall in that category.

Pretty much, I have a 2001 F150 and I'd never get ride of it for a car. Now, id have a car to go with it but if i had to choose I'd stick with having my truck. Though, every family member and friend will ask you...Hey can you help me move this on XX day and you will be like @^@()#*$&@#($*& go get your own damn truck!!!

My 300m has pretty decent storage space, however, there are times I need to borrow my Uncles truck...
