6850 will be faster and the tax is about 7% there so it is only 235 or so. I would still say get the 6870 if you can.

Well, better to have 1GB VRAM than 768MB, aren't there also cores sliced off that one?

that is the GTX460 SE 1GB, the GTX 460 768MB is just a regular GTX460 but with less vRAM to my knowledge. And as OP is going to gaming at 1680x1050 He wont really need the full 1gb but i still recommend the 6870 if you can find it to try and turn on some eyecandy.

Not exactly. While the 768MB version has the same number of CUDA cores as the 1GB version, it has a narrower memory bus and fewer ROPs IIRC.

OP, the build you posted looks pretty good.

This is turning out to be more fun than I thought. I found a great deal online for GTX 470 and so I bought it. All the P67 boards are out of stock. The only place that had the P8P67 standard do not sell mobos without procs (weird). So I went to the computer mall (all the major suppliers/distributors/whole sellers have their offices here), looked around and found one P67 Sabertooth at a decent price. I bought it.

Then I asked around for the Hyper 212+ but nobody had them in stock. So now I'm looking at the Xigmatec Dark Knight, which is quite a bit more expensive. Other choices are Thermaltake Contac and Coolermaster Hyper N520.

I'm also looking at some casings. HAF 922, HAF 932 or CM 690 (basic). Can't decide. Suggestions? As for the PSU, I'm going to getting an Antec EarthWatts 650.

Haf 922 should be nice.

P67 boards are out of stock because Intel had a fault in their SATA II ports. Nothing to worry about though, just move all your drives to SATA III ports.

Indications are that P67 boards should be back in a week or two maybe a little longer, but very soon.

After you guys in the USA get it, it'll take about 2-3 weeks more for us to get it here. But I have time now, and I really don't care for so many SATA ports. The Sabertooths carry a 5 year warranty so I can get it changed before I decide to sell it. I did spend $50 more than the basic model, but this is the first time I've bought something less basic. Hopefully the thermal armour will turn out to be more than just a marketing gimmick.

It won't.

The HAF 922 and Earthwatts 650 are good choices. The Thermaltake Contac looks to be yet another Hyper 212+ ripoff, so I'd probably go with that.

Then I just wasted $50? What about the memory? Value Ram will be good enough right? Also I'm thinking of getting 1x4 instead of 2x2. Any difference?

you will get about 2-4% better performance with 2x2GB

Would it be better if I get 2x2 now and then get a 4x1 later down the line for 8GBs? Or would that hurt performance significantly? I'm thinking of going Kingston Value. It's a fair beat cheaper than G.skill Ripclaw X and Corsair Vengeance.

I found a used Hyper 212+ and I'm looking to get that. It's much cheaper than Contac.

Alright looks like the 2000RS for 2GB is your best bet just get 2x2GB and another 2x2GB later if you need.

They had a few new items in stock and most of my items arrived today:

CM 690 II Plus (Asia Only): Basically the same as the Advanced with some minor features missing. It was quite cheap so I bought this instead of the HAF.

Hyper 212+ : Finally back in stock even though they raised the price by 10%. Still a good deal @ <$30

1000 GB Seagate 7200.12

1 x 4GB: I know I will lose 2-3% performance with a single DIMM but I thought it would have been better to get a 4 GB stick so that it will last me over my next build. It will also have a better resale value... And I plan to upgrade to 8 GB soon.

I'll be getting my PSU on Tuesday/Wednesday and Processor next weekend so I can finally build. :)

Any suggestions for an SSD drive? I might upgrade in 2-3 months.
