Hi guys,

I posted something earlier but I dexided to go for GTX 690.

First, is there a way for the seller to use a lower card and use 690 casing to fake it? How do I tell from the outside look that it is the real GTX 690?

well if you are going to go by looks alone and not get to see it in action before you buy, your bigger worry is a defective card not a switch.

Print this pic and look on the PCB side for the two gpu's and match this PCB pic with the card.

Its going to be alot more difficult to fake the gtx690 because it is a dual gpu card. You should be able to tell that its a 690 by the size and layout alone. That rear pic posted above should do it.

This is something what I was worried about.

Also, a bit worried that it might be a bad card or something. But I dunno.

You just wanted to know how to tell from the outside by looking at it, so if the PCB matches the pic above its a 690 and not a 590 which will look different. I don't know who or where you getting the card from but would only buy if there is a warranty/protection against DOA and to be working properly. If there is no trusted warranty/protection per above who ever your buying it from then I wouldn't buy it.

If you are worrying about this and buying from somewhere you can't see it working, then I would step back and get it from another source. I got one of my HD 7850s on Ebay, but it was only £100 and I paid with Paypal so didn't worry about it.
