Wow, 2 years and they're still like that? You should have definitely taught your dog by now not to chase the cat... what have you been doing all these years when the dog chases the cat?

To clarify my first post, the dog only chases the cat when I carry the cat into the room that the dog is in and say, "Look Maggie, it's Isabel!"

When the dog just happens to see the cat, though, we just tell her no and she just stays where she is.

Okay... there is a problem here. It's not the pets. It's that you are a moron.

lmao :D

I have a dog, no cat. You can check out my board if you want - a lot of owners with dogs and cats.

I can answer it for dogs...I have NO idea how trainable cats are...but if you can put them in a situation where they are together and they both get treats, maybe they will build a positive association with being together?

But anyhow, the dog won't stop chasing the cat when she sees her. My girls are fighting, how do I get them to get along with each other?

lock them up in a room

My kitty would probably end up with PTSD and become a catnip addict

when my cat was about 10 years old we got a puppy (golden labrador) that was barely a month old. the dog loves the cat to death and shows affection any way he knows how (eg. this involves lots of licking) and the cat tolerates the behaviour, kinda, but he can't stand the licking much :). sometimes the cat will paw at the dog's back or something and scare the dog, it's funny. they get along fine.

put both pets in a cage. put the cages next to each other, out of paws reach. keep doing this, bringing the cages closer and closre to each other. when one stops swatting the other's cage, let them both out. they should be used to being close to each other now.

oh, electric cattle prod also helps if they dont calm down within the first few minutes of the cages being next to each other. :p
