my dad seems to think it is a girl for some reason...hmmmmmmmmmmmm

I mean I guess I'm just in Kentucky, so I'm not southern enough, but we pretty much use first names here too. I don't call my boss Ms XXX, She is Cheryl and she tells me what to do.

Again you can just leave the name part out entirely if you want to be safe. Just start with thank you

If it were a ladies name, it would probably be spelled "Martie". To be sure, just make an anonymous call and ask for this person, then choose to call this person a man or woman. The secretary should correct you pretty quick. That or have some fun and upon meeting say "Oh, I thought you were a _____.".

Yeah, I've never heard anyone in a corporate setting be referred to as Mr/Mrs. These are your peers, would you call your friend Mr/Ms?

I grew up in the south. You are full of shit. I had 4 jobs during my time there, 2 of which were at engineering firms, and not once did I address anyone by anything but their first name.

You address people by their first names when you are at work and only by a special title if and only if they ask you to do so. Do whatever you want, but you are going to sound like a tool if everyone else calls her Marty and you call her Mrs. whatever.
