prī-və-sē In case you know how to read dictionary phonetics.
Being they're not teaching phonetics in the schools anymore, maybe not.
They've switched to teching some kind of fast-food way to read that produces better test results in short-term;but is abysmal in the long run.

Dude they don't even teach cursive anymore, use your 1910 era smarts to figure it out :awe:

I have fun saying:

AL-u-MI-nee-um (UK)

vs

a-LU-mi-num (US)

Don't forget "SHED-you-ull" instead of schedule. At least they don't say "sholar" rather than "scholar" or "shool" rather than "school."

Yeah, but the recent ghetto-fication of "st" has added a "h" sound to many common words among people younger than 30 or so in the US:

shtreet
shtrong
shtraight

Pronunciations keep changing.

We've never heard of that word.

I had to Google it. Apparently there are some places where things you do aren't known by anyone except you. What an utterly abhorrent concept. What if I should slip in the shower while masturbating to internet porn? Google or the NSA can send someone round in no time to make sure I'm OK. With this "privacy" thing, I could be dead for weeks before the wife found me.

No, I'll have none of that, thank you very much.

They say PREEVACY in UK? lol.

Is lone 'i' in American English ever pronounced as EE?

I've heard it pronounced prih-va-see. I've also heard root-er instead of r(ow)-ter for the word router.

We don't. That word doesn't exist here anymore. The government and NSA made sure of that.

I prefer the English pronunciation, sounds more refined in my ears for some reason.
