I always make sure to keep a Jalapeno plant at the ready for that guy. It won't kill him, but it will kill his little buddy and weaken him enough to take him out with corn cob missiles. If you kill two of them that way in a single round, you get a special achievement!
 
Played as Annie in League of Legends. Blitzcrank came outta nowhere full speed and punched me up into the air. His teammates brought me down with no issues.
 
My Dominix got alpha'd by a Naglfar during a wormhole space POS siege in EVE. Made it out with my pod though, so I didn't really die, just lost my ship.

Classic Final Fantasy was a real bitch, starting with the Marsh Cave.
I too died numerous times in the Volcano, and was always really pissed each time. Depending on your party make up, you often had to get excessively high levels to deal with most things.
In fact one of my oldest NES memories is grinding away near Elfland just to get the money and XP I needed to be ready for the rest of the game.
 
Cyborg midwife got me in SS2.

I still have some trouble with the interface; I'll get stuck in the "interact mode" while being attacked and panic.

But I'm getting better at it.
