Was looking to overclock my 486 DX4-100 back in 97 or 98 and I believe somebody on Usenet recommended the site.

I got this site while I was an active user at MadOnion.com. Was using the FS/FT section there and got into building PC's. Ran into some issues and somehow transitioned from MO to here. Way more technical site and a lot more users. Learned a ton about computer architecture.

Probably lurked for a year or more before joining.

I was in the market for a new PC back in 2003, and a friend had me check out a review for Athlon 64 cpu's on anandtech. I kept coming back ever since then. Lurked the forums for a very long time.

article in the local computer newspaper about distributed.net back in the early rc5-56 days

checked out the leaderboard at d.net and there was this anandtech

Was looking to do my first build and someone knowledgeable said read the AT general hardware forum for a week before you buy anything. Wandered over to OT somehow from there.

I still read up on hardware there before a build.

I was looking for a particular type of bridge camera made by Fujifilm. I was about 20 pages back on Google and found a guy selling one in FS forum but I didn't join the site or visit regularly till a few years later.

Some guy in high school showed it to me. The I left for 10 years...then this stupid mafia game drew me back in during a random checkin.

I read an article in Wall Street Journal about Mr. Anand and his successful web site. I was a programmer back then and stayed because there were some great folks here.

Oh how I miss the golden days of Hot Deals 🙁

I read this article back when it was published. Being from NC myself I decided to check out Anand's website. Lurked on the forums for a long time before joining to post though.

If I remember correctly, there was another tech site known as AGN that folded and many of those members gravitated here...

I mostly came for hardware reviews (not the forum).

Then one day I had some problem and decided to sign up to ask it.
