How did you arrive at selecting your "nick?"

My initials of of my name spell JOY so I just thought joyride would be cool

I have not seen the movie yet and truthfully don't plan to

It was the nick of my wizard on Battle.net. And no, it's not Gargamel's cat! 😛 It's a variation of Azrael.

Other ancient geeks may remember the acronym WOMBAT, which was popular in the late 1970s:

Waste Of Money, Brains, And Time

There is another reason I am called Wombat, but I am too old and confoozled to remember it.

Ok.. please before you read this, remember I was only 16............ please.

Ok, back in the day of BBS's, I ran a pretty big one in Wichita, KS... Being a lame 16 year old, I went by the handle "God" (of course).. During my explorations & exploitations of computing, I created a lame-o virus (which only destroyed my machine btw, I never sent it to anyone) and named it "Sent from Heaven" which I later decided was too long for a virus name, so I called it "heavensent". When I grew up a little "god" was not as cool as it used to be, so thinking about it I really liked the name "heavensent" So I changed it a little to HeVnScent (notice the elite capitol letters) then someone asked me if I thought I smelled good, and it obviously weighed heavy on me so I shortend it to hevnsnt.

Whew.. I feel a lot better getting that off my chest.

Waay back when I was a huge fan of "demos" done by groups such as the Future Crew.
There was one that wasn't particularly great but I liked the name - yep, "amnesiac"
It's fitting because I forget stuff ALL the time. 😀

Back in '99 after the server change my original account here was hosed so I reinvented myself and came back with amnesiac 2.0. I shorten it to amnesiacV2 (version 2) at most places. It still boggles my mind when THAT is taken as well as amnesiac on some sites. :Q

Now my original account here still works but then I'd lose my post count. 😀

When amnesiac / amnesiacv2 are taken, I resort to my alter ego, "oddfish," the nickname my ex-g/f gave to me once.

at the time i signed up i was thinking about how to stop all the spam i was getting.

my first choice was my high school nick, but i didn't want to explain the story behind it.

Zero is my favorite number. Not sure why, but it's just cool. Zero on it's own would imply that I was a loser, so I stuck the 'X' in front to make me suddenly cool. The II at the end is roman numeral for 2 because XZero was just not cutting it anymore, so I decided to reinvent the name and image.

I like to think that it's because of what I do at work. We heat steel to 2250 degrees F and squish it into connecting rods in 3000 ton presses.

Rather than the fact that if I were to sit on something it likely wouldn't retain its present shape.

My BBS nick from way back when. I chose that nick because Evad is my first name backwards ( wow, I am so cool! ) and the man, because I was. It has stuck for over 20 years.

LOL, you weren't chewing on a peyote button at the time were you ?🙂

You dare mock me?! Divine intervention should never be mocked......it can come back and haunt you when you least expect it.

My nick dates back to when I used to frequent IRC and I ran a bot named "LiQUiD iCE" ... unfortunately somebody else uses that nick around places, so I just shortned it to "LiQiCE" and I use that all over the place. (Except AIM cuz somebody uses it there! dohhh!)

First name is Ryan, last name is Gwaltney

Gwaltney was taken when I signed up for a computer account my first day in college, so I had about 15 seconds to come up with a suitable replacement. rgwalt is what was born. I'm now rgwalt almost everywhere on the web. I can't really keep track of multiple user names.
