This was in the Spring of 1998 and I had just installed some software that came with my first CDRW Drive.

The software placed a ghost file in "My Computer".
Somehow I heard about Anandtech and came here, registered and asked for help. My problem was solved within minutes by an unknown person. I saved the solution which he posted but never saved his/her name.

If you are still out there, thanks again.

Came here the first time in May-June 2001 asking what kind of memory and Video card would fit 'My Can-O worms' ,where I am neffing from.
Signed up as 'PoorUser' and lost the password and accidently entered an e-mail adress without the '@' (a '2' instead). DOH!

Re-entered as FrustratedUser.
Started out in ATGH and upgraded to ATOT.

I strolled across Anands words back... way back... when he first made them on the web.
Myself, I was trying to gain as much knowledge as I could about computers at the time. I read his words, I was hooked... Damn! I said to myself, this kid knows his chit.
For the the years that followed, I saw Anand grow into an amazing entrepreneur. In his forums I learned many wonderful things, as well, have had many wonderful interactions with people of all kinds. I've made some great friends(some of them life long) and some great enemies(hopefully not life long) too.
Myself, I feel lucky to have been a part of watching Anand become who he is and the community he created.

LMAO!

I remember back when this place had less than 100 peeps... I was too friggin shy to post though. ;)

BTW,
Thank you Anand. You kick ass. :)

<< i was looking for some reviews of socket a motherboards, and a google search directed me to the folks at amdmb.com. then i started to frequent their "hot deals" section... which is essentially like the FS/FT boards here. there was a guy who posted something for sale and he mentioned he was a newbie there, but he's been around the AT forums for a while. so i came to AT to check it out... and haven't turned back :) >>

Exactly the same for me...looks like we even joined at the same time..so which board did you end up w? I've got a MSI K7T266 with a resistor in the wrong place (gotta love bleeding edge technology...hehe)

Heh, no. I like nested threads better, but I won't complain, after all AT is free.

My dad's friend told him about anandtech's main page back in... hmm.. I think 99... forums were anandforums.gisystech.com or something like that at the time.....
I looked at the site a bit, but really used it a couple of months later, for the super7 mobo round up and other reviews

jreel got me to sign up for the forums in jan 2000.... and I've come here on and off since.... would come often for a couple of months (usually hot deals), then not come for a few months, etc... then DC got me hooked completely in dec 01 :)

the transition to fusetalk was in oct 99, I know... did gisystech start with fusetalk?
