It has little to do with it. Just because I invested a fair amount doesn't mean everyone should, and a fantastic cup can be had for cheap.

doesn't matter to me what kind of coffee it is, the blacker the better...I love it when it's 5:30 am, and I grab a cup of black coffee, nothin wakes u up like that.

im not a coffee snob but i will say that youre not drinking the right coffee.. or maybe your tastebuds dont agree with coffee. i dont know much about coffee, but i do have a favorite local place with brews that are good raw (though i do prefer Most with sugar [no cream]). ive liked coffee from the first sip as a wee lad... its not the caffeine because caffeine does absolutely nothing for me... i drink itccasionally because i want to taste something aside from water or juice

dunno, i glanced through a coffee history book once. apparently in the 60's or something anything but the new freeze dried instant coffee was considered passe.

somehow gormet coffee came back... starbucks i guess.

I switched from drinking black coffee, to tea with sugar. Coffee gives me heartburn, but I still gotta have it with sweet deserts, like cake or pie. Nothing like a big, fresh cherry turnover, and piping hot cup of black coffee! :thumbsup:

Good article on how to make good tasting coffee, OP maybe ur just not making it right. The key is not let the coffee stay in the machine too long, drink it as soon as its down for the best taste.

makes sense. I drink coffee that I grind, not the greatest bean but its not the worst.

As much as I hate snobs, and there are many in this forum, I'm going to agree that quality ingredients and equipment really make the difference. I've always hated coffee and still do but this one resturaunt I went to had the best black coffee I've ever had. While I wasn't impressed with the meal I would go back just for the coffee at the end.

Some coffee appreciation, for some people, comes from social influence IMO. If everyone in the office is drinking coffee and discussing business around the coffee maker, it can pay to drink coffee and pretend to like it.

Anyway, some coffees taste fine w/o either (I don't sugar anyway, yuck).
