How confident are you with your car after 100,000 miles?

my last car made it to 250k before i sold it in 2008 (Volvo 240 Wagon), its actually still on the road and is most likely over 300k. i see it every now and then

im currently at 92k on my current car and not worried (Saab 92X)

The 100k mark is a thing of the past. 200k is the new 100k, IMO.

My 2008 Fusion has 55k miles and still drives like new. I'm hoping to keep it until 150k-200k+.

My fiancee drives a 2003 Malibu with 170k miles. Other than the normal Malibu problems (first three fan speeds died, and a few other quirks) and the AC having a significant leak, it has been a very reliable car. The only major repair we've had to make is a fuel pump at 150k, and all it cost us was $200ish and an afternoon.

I just bought a 2001 Sport Trac with 130k miles. The previous owner was big on maintenance, and it literally drives like new; all it lacks is that new car smell. I'm hoping to keep it in good shape and make it last to 250k+.

My Mustang has 88k original miles. Between all of the power and stress I'll be putting on it, I'm expecting to be doing work on it regularly. 😉

My 3 series is my DD and has a little over 110,000 miles on it. Complete confidence driving anywhere.

Only problem is my rear center console has some missing trim because my 5 year old kicks it when he is in the back.

I have 103,000+ miles on my Maxima. I bought it new in 2003, have taken good care of it and as such I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere. Everything works, it drives perfectly, and it still looks good. No reason to get rid of it really.

My wife's best friend has a 2002 Lexus ES sedan she bought new and she has just a hair under 300,000 miles on it. Only thing she had to replace so far was a power steering pump. I drove with her and her brother to Palm Springs last year and it was very comfortable...she drives like a little old lady though.

I would drive my 2002 Passat with ~139k miles from here to California and back. It has never once left me on the side of the road or refused to start up. Any of its issues have been unrelated to the cars everyday reliability. I also feel that mechanically it is actually strong. I know its maintenance is up to date in all areas so I trust that as well.

My 2000 Jetta has ~157k miles. Doesn't run as well as it used to and has left me stranded twice (once on a date 🙁 ), but I'm betting I'll be able to get a couple more years out of it.

198k on my 91 Honda Accord. I drive from Utah to California a couple of times a year. It's never left me stranded. Coming up on another timing belt change and it should be good to go.

Almost 115k on my car and I'm planning on driving it into the ground. It's been regularly serviced since I got it in 2003 and has had a couple of minor issues, but no issues in the past 2 years.

I'm pretty sure every car my family has owned has run over 100k. Two Honda Accords, and the Sentra ran to 220k+. Van went to 150k, Rodeo to 120k, other cars are still running but only 2 years old so yeah.

I'm confident with any of my cars after 100K, or any other mileage for that matter. I am the only one who ever touches a car I own so I know exactly what condition any of them are in. I take good care of my cars.

Every car I bought new was driven to 150-175K before I got rid of them. The Taurus SHO my dad gave me with 104K was parked when it reached 227K. It sat for five years until last year when I had to move it and with a jump starter box it fired up on the first hit of the key with the gas in the tank and I drove it off my trailer and parked it...the brakes were even solid. I would never have believed that one if I wasn't the one that did it.

Hell, my 57 T-Bird had 250K on it when I finally restored it and I drove that car all the time back in high school on the weekends.

I had over 150K on my first 66 Mustang after I rebuilt it....the chassis had 234K.

The only two cars I have ever had that I did not trust after 100K were Japanese. A Mitsubishi and a Lexus. Both of those cars caused me more headaches than any other car I have ever owned.

I have 141K on my current vehicle, and have no qualms about driving it anywhere. Planning on going at least 200K with it.

My previous one had 161k on it, again, didn't bother me any.

My 88 Olds has 276k on it and has never left us stranded. Yes, it has had costly repairs but we've never been sitting on the side of the road and never needed it towed.

I sold the Toyota pickup at 230k. Only got stranded once and that was a broken belt.

On the other hand the 1990 Ford Escort left us stranded all over the place and we sold that at 90k.

Sent the wife off on a long drive, GA to Cape Cod, in our Blazer with 245K miles on it. Truck never missed a beat there or back.

Of course, we've owned it since it was new and I know every bit of maintenance that's been done for it and how it's run over its life. Truck has been very, very reliable and I wouldn't hesitate for her to take it today and drive anywhere.

My wife just took our windstar that has only 185k up to PA from GA. I believe it'll be getting replaced soon as the AC is going out on it. Other than that and the gas mileage dropping, it seems to run fine. Hate to see it go, and the monthly payments start back up. Now my 94 ranger with 156K on it, may need a clutch, or slave cylinder replaced soon. But even with that, I wouldn't hesitate to take that on a trip. Living in the south definitely does help the longevity of the vehicles.

When i bought my truck 6 months ago the odo had just wrapped(4320 miles reading on it), it goes up to 99,999 miles so i would assume since its a 1984 that it had wrapped at least twice, so probbaly 300000+ miles on it.

It has obviously had work done to it before i got it and the engine and trans are in great shape and the diffs/tcase/drive shafts had just been rebuilt, had $2000 reciept to prove it and they looked like they had been worked on.

I would trust it anywhere. I take it offroading at least once a month and have no worries that it will get me home. Ive put this thing through hell and it hasnt slowed it down. I've passed broken down new trucks and pulled out much newer vehicles while off road. Its actually pretty amazing how weak alot of the new vehicles are off road, especially the SUV's that dont even have a true low range gear.

Our 2004 Acura TSX has 119k miles, and it still runs perfectly.

Our 2008 Honda CRV has 70k miles and I expect the same.

I'd expect a minimum of 130-150k out of a newer car before it needed anything major. Even after that it's still cheaper to own than buying a new car if you're looking at it from a purely financial standpoint. My uncle has a 240sx with 300k on it and I don't think the motor or transmission have ever been apart.

Almost 200k on my daily, pretty confident, hasn't let me down yet. Will need to change clutch assembly soon though.

same here, except i have 225k on it. clutch is finally showing signs of failing after about 150k since last redo. my secondary car has 238k on it, i would drive it anywhere.

mebbe its because i do all the work on these vehicles and know what has chances of breaking next that gives me confidence in driving them. i trust my truck to take me and my kids on a 400 mile camping trip, and everything in between. of course ill get that clutch redone before i do that again.

Not becoming bored with the vehicle is the only thing that will prevent you from getting over 100k on any car. Even the shittiest of cars have reliable enough engines for that feat. There is also a huge difference between a lot of highway miles and bumper to bumper city traffic.

my ex-wives car has 160k miles. she has had it since she bought it new in 96. I KNOW that it has been maintained and everything that needed to be done was done. it is starting to idle rough though.

My van had 159k miles when it died.

The car i had before the van was had like 198k miles when i sold it for like $500. the car before that (cavalier i think) had 200+ before i gave it away.

My Audi S4 has 95k on it. I have a slight lingering fear of needing to pay for an expensive repair, but not concerned enough to justify trading it for a car I’d enjoy less. Drove only 25k in the past four years, the only repair was a “secondary air sensor”. I wouldn’t hesitate to drive it anywhere.

150k is the new 100k, for cars that are maintained. Even then many can do 200k before large and major repairs are needed now.

I had about 165k on my old truck, my buick was a little over 200k (trans went), firebird was around 200k, etc...

My wife does not like to keep cars past 60k. My current truck has 95k but she does not care about the truck. Our Mercedes has 43k and I bet she will keep it to about 60k and get something else.

I hope it takes her a few years to hit that 60K or that you at least get a good trade in price.

With new cars, I would say 100K is no big deal. My 01 Alero is at 108K and only major expense has been the starter.

My wife's car has 15K on it...and my car is about 20K away from 100K. At the moment, I feel that I will be confident in both cars at 100K...of course making that prediction on my wife's car is very premature. As regard to my M3...the engine is still running like a charm. There is some maintenance I need to get done (coming up on an Inspection II and I need to replace the rear shocks), but overall the car is in fantastic condition.
