I think it would be rather pointless. I would be all for them starting some kind of colony on the moon.

Because we were there twice already and nobody was home. If they want us to come over again, they'll have to call and ask...nicely.

You guys are all wrong, we're really just human generators connected to the matrix. You think the real world could have crazy places like canada or europe? Come on, they might as well have flying pigs.

I will never believe anything unless I can experience/observe it myself. The Civil War never happened, there was never slavery in the New World, C. Columbus never discovered Hispanola, the Spanish never raped the New World, the Inquisition never happened, Christ and Mohammed never existed, the Chinese didn't invent gunpowder, a meteorite has never impacted planet Earth, dinosaur bones don't exist, Mt. St. Helens never erupted.......

This is stupid.

<< Van Allen Radiation Belt + the jiffy pop popcorn space capsule = death by radation! >>

This is complete and utter nonsense. The van Allen belts are regions above the Earth's surface where the Earth's magnetic field has trapped particles of the solar wind. An unprotected man would indeed get a lethal dose of radiation, if he stayed there long enough. Actually, the spaceship traveled through the belts pretty quickly, getting past them in an hour or so. There simply wasn't enough time to get a lethal dose, and, as a matter of fact, the metal hull of the spaceship did indeed block most of the radiation.

For a detailed explination, go here.

And that's why the space shuttle had to abort it's mission and experiments quickly when they moved close (in space terms) to the radiation belt to study them. Hold on, gotta dig up the link on this one. Plus, I don't care how fast you move through radiation in that thin of a capsule, your gonna end up like microwaved popcorn!

There's no point arguing with the conspiracy theorists who believe the moon landing was just a big coverup. Why? They'll throw every bit of "evidence" back at you as a well conceived coverup!

As for why we don't go back, it's definitely the budgets and what are we to gain from doing it again (unless it was to establish a colony). I'm looking forwards to the Mars missions myself!

Well, if that isn't the most conceited author I've ever read!!!

Still waaaaay too many questions and holes punched into landing on the moon. So why don't we go back? Why hasn't another country tried it? Don't give me the $$$ BS, don't give me the "We have nothing more to really learn from landing on the moon again" or the "There's nothing to prove by going back" or other countries saying "America won the space race"

It's because it was a cover-up. Those involved in the program at that time know it and those involved in the program now deep down know it!

<< datalink, I think (hope) he is just pulling your chain. >>

Nope, not pulling his chain. I'm a well educated person with a genius IQ level. I can believe in things I did not witness, but not this one. I've worked for the government long enough to know that they spend half their time and energy covering up things and creating pure BS in the name of the USA.

lol... but that is the reason. It isn't BS... how can you say that it is? Money is a very valid reason. Why spend billions of dollars, and risk peoples lives, to bring back some more rocks? It would be like me spending money to go to the Sahara desert to bring back a bucket of sand. Sure, once it might be cool to say I've been there and have some sand from there, but why do it again? Particularly when I am strapped for cash. The money is better spend on the ISS, and that is where the available money is going.

Uh huh. And the link I gave had a conceited author eh?

How are we risking peoples lives? We did it once in the late 60s when we were not as technologically advanced and we did it safely, surely we should be able to do it again safely. Shoot, we have all that research and development from the first time we went up. Expense? What expense? The bulk of expenses on anything is research and development. We already have that!

We won't go back because we can't and we didn't!

P.S. datalink7, that comment of my IQ and my education wasn't a conceited remark, it was a qualification statement. I'm not some backwoods hick that thinks that the moon is made out of cheese.
