You are right. A/C is used much more because the humidity makes it too unbearable otherwise for those of us whose bodies would be sweating to cool us off. (since humidity prevents sweat evaporation, so your natural cooling system doesn't work). That same humidity makes it seem colder than it is if you are the type who does not sweat.
This year down here has been alot cooler than previous years. I guess it's because we're finally getting some rain. As far as nights being cooler, yes, but the humidity is still high. Personnally I'd rather be back up in northwestern PA than down here, but that is just to get some snow. You can't make white snowmen down here, you end up with dirty snowmen.
