sometimes seems like the most divided country in the world?

I don't know, maybe check out...every country in the Middle East?

We pretty much thrive on hating ourselves and getting over it without violence, more or less. It's what makes the US awesome.

Yeah it seems like there's a lot of drama in the U.S. because we're constantly dragging out out dirty laundry to let it air out. It's how we deal with shit and put it behind us. I think a lot of other countries let their problems sit out of sight and fester until they explode one day.

The thing with the US is that we have every way possible to piss and moan about things. Facebook, Cable news, newspapers, reddit, petition.org, and so on. And piss and moan we do.

But when it comes down to it, most of us still go to bed with a warm house, electricity, and running water. We don't have it bad compared to most places.

Sure we have little flare ups...Furgeson, that Wallstreet mob thing a few years back, and other little blips. But as a whole...we generally have it pretty damn good and I think we know it.

The US could use one against police brutality and government corruption. The government has grown too powerful and too much against the people. The cops, who are suppose to serve and protect, are actually the real enemy. Worse is that you can't defend yourself against that enemy as they will just give you the death penalty on the spot with zero repercussions. There are plenty of cases where they even come attack people in their own homes.

If you somehow forgot about all the news articles that have come up over the years, just browse this site to get an idea: http://filmingcops.com/

And that's the stuff that makes it on camera. Cops who see you filming them will usually try to confiscate your equipment.

Honestly the people need to get together and fight this, it's only going to get worse. I just hope it never gets to that point here in Canada.

How close to Civil War is the USA?

The USA sometimes seems like the most divided country in the world. There's so much hatred and rage. At the very least, there is an extreme lack of unity overall and a solid sense of superiority on both the left and the right. How close to Civil War are things, really?

Extremely close.

The U.S. has already been close to the tipping point with Ferguson Missouri, Baltimore Maryland and others.

I suspect Chicago to be the place that starts the next Civil War.

I never said it does not happen here, it just does not happen as much as the states.

35 million vs 318 million plus the fact that Canadians consume a ton of media from the US whereas the US consumes....well tons of media from the US.

We're very divided, but when you look at the things we're divided about it's all pretty stupid... 1st world problems turned into a meme but it's true. When things are good like they are (for the most part) then we come up with things to bitch about. You have a small group whining about gun rights, and a few whining about minimum wage, and other stuff like that. In the end nobody is going to do anything about it.

Methinks you confuse the difference between an uprising, venting of frustration through rioting, looting an general mayhem with what a civil war is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_war

The real possibility of a riot https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riot occurring from festering resentment in places like Chicago, Baltimore and Ferguson.

The spontaneity of a riot escalating to a calculated civil war is very unlikely; but if you consider the world is now one giant singular global nation then US is viewed as a state and Daesh as another state in that global nation then we are involved with a several civil wars. I prefer to see Old Glory fly at the highest place on a flag pole; not subject to some larger nation. separate entity;

1%?

It'd be 0% if you got rid of mainstream news and the Republican/Democrat parties.

Eh, there's plenty of intelligent people on the right and there's a lot of complete morons too (same as the left, for both). But between Urkel and that sister-fucker, I sure know who I'd put my money on in a fight.

Me too. Urkel has nuclear weapons.

People lash out violently against things they hate: On Tumblr or online petition sites.
Then it turns to a sense of panic and redirected focus as they discover that their phone is only at 7% and the charging plug is nowhere to be found. War averted.

We aren't. One side has all the guns and skills useful for warfare but lacks high intelligence or diversity in thought or population, and vice versa for the other side.
If you honestly believe that, you are the biggest problem in this country.

The majority of what constitutes for news media in the US profits heavily from social, economic, and political divides. They want to push emotions for profit.

Ignore this garbage and you'll realize that this country isn't so bad.

Roger Elliot was ready for civil war.

With women! He hated the whole lot because they ignored him. : (
