43 years old and still 20/20 vision. It's the only part of my body that's not breaking down. So glad I don't have to mess with contacts.

Lots and lots of practice. Been wearing soft contacts since I was 12, just takes time to get used to it.

Pussy... ;)

No, you just get used to it. I was the exact same. My first few months wearing contacts, it probably took me 10 minutes to get them in. My very first two or three times EVER, it took me a good half hour. That's why the optometrist had me do it in the office the first time.

Over time, you just get used to touching your eye. Your natural reflex is to close and look away to protect the thing. And you've been using that reflex properly for a probably a decade or more.

Just remember that you're not touching your eye. You are only touching a piece of plastic resting on your eye's surface. What helped me was I used to stick my finger in my eye to readjust the contact -- actually, it was attention whoring and I'm lucky I didn't get it infected.

wearing contact lens is not an easy task you should give more importance for selecting a contact lens. you should get a proper advice from an eye doctor and make sure you didnt made any mistake i got mine from unionville optometry they help me a lot to choose.

The thought of it taking more than 5 seconds is odd... to think that you consider 3 minutes good hurts my brain.

I just touched my eyeball with my finger just for you. I don't wear contacts so that felt a bit strange.

I didn't even wash my hands before doing it.

Oooh I did it again. Stings a bit.

Did another one. Apparently I can keep my eye open while touching the cornea.

Takes longer for me to unscrew the container than to put them in... Unless they fall out.

The trick I learned is to put it in, then close my eyelid slightly. That way, if it's stuck to my finger, there's something to pull back on it. Before I started doing this, it probably did take over a minute on bad days when the lens was too well bonded to my finger tip.

I just hold both lids of my eye open with the thumb and index finger of one hand while I use the thumb and index finger of the other hand to "pinch" the lens directly off of the surface of my eye. There's no irritation if you only touch the contact lens.

I suppose the queasiness is just something you have to get over. I've been wearing them so long I can't remember if I was queasy at first. Just do it over and over until you convince yourself that you're really not going to poke your eye out or cause damage by doing it.

The contact lens moves easily when there is contactlens fluid or eye fluid under it. I always make sure that my eyes are not dry when taking my lenses out. Then i just roll my eye upwards and push with my indexfinger the lens towards the white area of my eye, away from the cornea. Because of the displacement, the lens no more fits like a glove and folds easily and can then be taken out by use of the thumb and the index finger. Pushing the lens towards the index or the thumb where it will stick onto. That is how i do it for years now.

Mercy me when i have fallen a sleep with my lenses in. My lenses are suctioncups then. And i need to add contact lens fluid or tears and move it around until it comes a bit loose by itself. Then the above described removal procedure is in effect.

EDIT:

Forgot to mention i use soft contactlenses.

I wore hard contacts for 15 years and then went to soft lenses and I swear my first night was a nightmare. My gf was just laughing at me the whole time as I tried to remove my lenses.

Anyway, I found the easiest way is to make sure your eyes are NOT dry. Put a few drops in before removing them. This is especially useful when its the winter season now and heaters are cranked way up. You'll injure yourself trying to remove lenses when your eyes are this dry.

Over time it gets much easier. I first through hard contact lenses were wtf and I learned to remove them. After switching to soft it took me a week or so before I learned that you can apply SOME pressure to your eye to pinch them to take them out. I would always just barely touch the lens and get scared.

You can use a plunger if you want. Just gotta hold your eyelid up with one hand and use the other to suction the lens out with the plunger.

I rarely wear my contacts, but I can take them out while walking. Don't even need to stop. You just get used to it.

I've had to do daily eyedrops for 2 years now. Can't stand it. Couldn't imagine if I had to progress to actually touching the eye.

You get used to it. Wore contacts for almost 15 years before getting PRK.

Try using some saline on your finger tips. Sometimes using a different finger helps if one isn't working. I routinely used thumb + index but sometimes would go thumb + middle.

I had hard contact break in my eye because someone hit it with a penny (lid closed). Shattered into about 12 pieces and had to pick those out of my eye. Also had one dry to my eyeball and shatter as I pryed it off.

The first week I had contacts, they were very uncomfortable to wear and put in. Now I can put my contacts in with no problem. I can even touch my eye with my finger without any bother. You get used to it.

She'll get better. It only takes me about 5 seconds per eye to put in or take out my contacts.
