How can we determine whether a conservative or a progressive society is better?

Would an objective measure of which societies, from liberal to conservative, have the happiest people be a valid measure?

Well the measurements have been done and progressive societies win. If you are a conservative, for the sake of humanity, give it up. You are wrong about your beliefs that a conservative society is better because a society of miserable people isn't worth a thing. One thing we can say about misery, though, is that it loves company, and you can bet, therefore, that conservatives will want everybody to be as miserable as they. The truth and scientific fact will not phase them. They will continue in denial and push their misery on everybody.

Are there any conservatives that would rethink their in the face of scientific evidence?

Progressive society wins because they are never willing to rationally reason with anyone. So they made a poll and voted themselves over and over again. Seems like progressives.

Dear OP: Great articles for facts begin with "Opinion:" Also, it isn't hard to get a bunch of fanboi's when your entire premise is based around hand-outs for the unwilling to work from the willing. Do you need rocket scientists for this kind of analysis?

Funny when I visit your link all I get is:

We're sorry! This page is not available. Please visit the CNN homepage or use the search box below

Based on this new evidence would you like to rethink your opinion? 😀

Makes me wonder why those Eastern European nations and the republics in the Soviet Union shed their progressive govts and the safety nets they provided.

And why is the examples progressives use as the happiest people on earth or the best forms of govt always constitute 90+% of people as white?

Because conservatives are so open minded and willing to reason... 🙄

Oh great, more "scientific evidence" that "conservatives R bad". 🙄

The author equates "happiness" to "rewarding". You can feed a kid chocolate all day and make him happy, he's not going to be well rewarded for it. You can give an adult free everything and make said adult very happy, whether that's a "rewarding" life is another question.

In fact, the author mentions exactly that point:
Whatever else unions and liberal public policies might do, they help make the world a better place to the extent that we believe human happiness is the appropriate metric to measure such judgments.

Even if liberals could re-make the Garden of Eden, I wouldn't want to live there. Happiness should be more earned than provided, there is no "right to be happy".

Because they were't PROGRESSIVE governments you hack. They were totalitarion socialist states.

So we are clear then PROGRESSIVE government would be defined then as government that let you do whatever you want and then bail you out when your stupidity comes to bite you in the ass?

Well I guess there might be something to that. Wall Street is basically treated in that fashion and they seem pretty happy 😀

I see doubling down on more hackery.

The funny thing about progressives is that they eventually become conservative, once society has reached their personal ideal state.

At what point does a government transition from progressive to totalitarian socialist? I'm assuming it's not when government decides what size soft drink you may order or reads your private email, as our government does those things and this is yet another "America is bad because it's too conservative" thread. Or when it dictates what you may name your child or whether one can criticize the Religion of Peace, as those are things regularly done in these progressive Eurotopias.

It's the "No True Progressive" fallacy.

Conservatives are just as bad as modern liberals. Alexander Hamilton, Henry Clay, and Abraham Lincoln represent the far right of early America... Lincolnianism evolved into the internationalism of the Wilsonian variety.

TRUE liberals (not the Hamiltonian ultranationalists evolved into Wilsonian progressive internationalists) support new ideas not subsidized nor thought of by govt, they used to favor no forced taxation, they were anti-war, pro-hard money, and they used to favor decentralism.
