Electric razors suck.. No matter what the advertisements claim about close shaves, I think its nonsense...

You cant beat the closeness and feel-good feeling after a shave from a quality razor and some good shaving cream..

No way - I've got a Norelco Advantage, even a Mach III can't touch how smooth that electric leaves me 🙂
In fact, when I have thick stubble, I'll shave first with my regular razor, then clean up with the electric, you wouldn't believe how much the regular razor leaves behind!

I have some after shave lotion that my mother in law gave me. She was a cosomotoligst back in the day. Stuff works great. Takes away any burn, smells good, and actually has helped my skin some. She also gave me this stuff that you use on nicks but burns like heck

use shaving cream.

I use an electric. Shaving cream + electric = broken electric

You should use a razor until your face gets used to shaving. Right now you probably have a very cushiony baby face, and fuzzy facial hair. After you shave 3-4 times a week with a razor, the skin on your face may tighten and your wiskers will be stronger. This will make them easier for the electric razor to cut. Right now you probably have to go over every spot with the electric 2-3 times before it's cleared, right? If your face was more prepared for the electric, you wouldn't have to and it wouldn't hurt.

Additionally, after shaving, always wash your face with something very clean. When you shave, you open your pores up, if there is any dirt on your face whatsoever, it gets into your pores and iritates them usually until you shower or sweat. Using aftershave, rubbing alcohol, facial clensers and the such will close your pores imediately. Even if it stings like a mofo for a few seconds, it's better than having an ichy face for a couple of days.

Most importantly, shave before you NEED to shave. Don't go a week without shaving, shave when you first get a 5 O'clock shadow. As your hair gets longer, the root gets stronger and it will hurt more to yank on it and cut it.

soften up your face with warm water before you shave. then rinse your face with freezing cold water after you shave.

You have to use a pre-shave when using an electric.

Not really.. eventually your face gets used to electrics and the pre shave is not needed.

As for the itch, just go get a bottle of aqua velva and splash some on after you shave.

Feels great and takes away the itch.. plus its not creamy like those other after shave lotions so you dont feel all wet and funny after you rub it on. The stuff dries right away and smells great.
