I just shaved after direly needing it (i'm a college student, I don't care if I look scruffy a bit but I did need one eventually) and now my face itches like CRAZY. I use an electric but WHY does it itch? It's so nasty...

Any tips on getting it to stop?

you need to use some after shave lotion, it will help alot, also try using a shaving cream/gel with menthol in it

1. shower first with warm water to soften the hair and skin to be shaved
2. Use a shaving cream with dimethicone it's the best but more expensive like $4 a can

Use some after shave?

If you have any female roommates, ask if you can use some of their face moisturizer.

Are you shaving your face?

Just thought I'd clear that up.

You mentioned "after direly needing it" - you mean like "haven't shaved for two weeks" needing it? If so, it's just going to naturally itch growing back in. Slather on the aloe or facial cream.

I think it was only a week and a half.

Anyways, getting some face moisturizer might be a good idea, I'll go hit up the girls that live around the corner in our dorm.

if i use an electric razor, i take a hot shower first to get the hair softer. Then after i shave, i put some lotion or aloe on it.

I use a Mach 3 Razor and Noxema to shave with. Leaves my face smoothe and protects my mug from razor burn. Wash your face with warm water and soap before shaving. Rinse it with cold water after you shave. Warm water wash softens the facial hair and opens your pores up allowing for a better shave. The cool water rinse afterwards will close up the pores by cooling them.

Hydro Cortizone Cream will take care of it.

hmm, may go give that a shot, my face is calming down a bit though...

Just get the cream, not the ointment. The cream is like lotion and help help with the dry skin associated after shaving. Good luck.

Electric razors suck.. No matter what the advertisements claim about close shaves, I think its nonsense...

You cant beat the closeness and feel-good feeling after a shave from a quality razor and some good shaving cream..

It isn't. I got a Quadra-Action for Christmas and it is excellent.
