amd said they're doing this because the people who buy cards say they would rather have a full line launch than piecemeal release.
lol, yes because i intend to buy not only a 600HD, but also an rv630 and an rv610, all in the space of a week.
You may not... but Dell will... times about a few million or so.
Well right now Dell is selling 8600's, so I think they did not feel like waiting either.
that IS the problem ... most of these mega-bux deal buyers like to have their deals cut long in advance ...
not likely they are still waiting for a no-show - remember AMD *canceled* a hard-launch, already - so IF *i* were a buyer for a major OEM, i'd want to see 'product' before i committed to AMD
otoh, they ARE committing to nvidia
AMD *Can* recoup their losses - including 'prestige' - IF they really *deliver*

a steller family of GPUs across-the-board
something *awesome* so much so that the industry says,
"wow" ... AMD "Can" deliver
--if not ... too bad
i finally *get* what AMD is trying to do ... it took some real thought ... they are NOT stupid [really]
it's a HUGE gamble IMO
i still think they should hire me ... i can explain it a lot better than their fud-spinners do
:Q
still ... i wish them all the very best luck and good timing in the world
