Also, many of you don't realize how often the average woman is hit on (and how often those guys are scary or creepy or just not interesting). If you were out and people you didn't know were constantly asking you for your number (and you felt physically vulnerable), you'd be careful, too. Once you give your number someone can get your address (often). Even if the guy seems harmless, he could keep calling and that could be awkward, as most of us don't like to be rude or hurtful so we drop MAJOR hints to help you save your pride. When I went to clubs or was at work I always wore a "wedding" ring to make it that much easier to escape.
Even if you think someone might be cute, if you'd *just* met him there is still a big risk in just giving out your number.

Wow, that is awesome!
Ok, so I suppose a girl could just say "no", but I still have a hard time picturing it. Maybe because it seems so awkward.
guy: "I gotta go. Give me your phone number and we'll get together sometime."
girl: "no."
I guess I'm assuming that the conversation was going really well. Though, why would you ever ask for her number unless the conversation was going well?

Have you ever even ASKED a girl out?
There's sh!tloads of excuses, the most common being "I'm seeing someone" or "I have a boyfriend."
Strangely enough, I've rarely had to ask for numbers. The last four girls I went out with just ran up and gave me theirs.![]()
