How big is your allowance?

Actually allowance is what my wife calls it, I call it spending money. When you have two people using debit cards for everything it gets hard to keep track of, so we decided to use cash.

I get $120 per week and this goes for gas, snacks and when we go out for a beer...

So how much do you guys get?

$0. Every last dime I have goes to bills. I haven't had cash forever. I'm eating PB&J for lunch.

Automotive design rocks!

Wife and I set aside 30$ a week for eating out, dates, etc.

And beyond that we take 10$ each for ourselves, eating out at work, save it up for silly crap.

Debit card and checks. I don't own a normal credit card.

I get $120 a month(plus any side job income) in cash to blow on whatever I want, without question.

We just both know how much we should spend before checking with each other. We don't have specific numbers or anything like that. Kind of outgrew that about 20 years ago...

well my mommy and daddy gives me $200/month to spend.
my p/t job pockets in $300/month.

poor college student living at home!! woohoo.

Seperate checking accounts for me and my wife. So, I get my paycheck - half the bills - monthly savings = my spending money. 2 to 5 hundred a month.

$4/school day from parents. This is supposed to pay for lunch, disposable materials at school, etc. I'm using it to pay for a $300 monitor. You can do surprisingly well if you don't eat the slop in the cafeteria.

Same here... wife and I have seperate accounts. I pay a big chunk of the bills since I make a big chunk of the money. My wife has this horrible habit of looking at the net income and attempting to live right at that income. That means no extra money. Thanks wife.

Different strokes for different folks, that's just sounds strange to me but as long as it's working for you.

~$700 a week. Oh yeah, I have to work 40 some hours to get it, though.

~$700 a week allowance?? allowance to me = whatever left over from bills, etc. Or maybe your whole paycheck is your allowance? If that is the case, you are a lucky dog with no bills to pay. 😛

We don't really have one. At the moment our inner restraint, to what degree we have any, seems to be doing ok. We won't buy things on credit if they can't get paid off by the end of the month and we're now (finally) able to have extra money for savings (not including 401k which we've been contributing for some time). We eat out infrequently and generally discuss any purchase of significance.

We use the same credit card for most purchases and share a checking account.
