I'm not too happy with my draft, but here it is. Note that we are a keeper league, so most of the top RBs (L. Johnson, S. Alexander, LT, S. Jackson, etc.) were taken from the beginning.

Starters
Palmer, Carson QB CIN
Jones, Julius RB DAL
Lundy, Wali RB HOU
Mason, Derrick WR BAL
Ward, Hines WR PIT
Miller, Heath TE PIT
Rackers, Neil K ARI
Panthers DST

Reserves
Bledsoe, Drew QB DAL
Branch, Deion WR NE
White, Roddy WR ATL
Pollard, Marcus TE DET
Koenen, Michael K ATL
Redskins DST

What I find usually happens is the people that did not show get obliterated in the first half of the season, then it is just the remainging (usually about half) of the group fighting it out.

So yeah, there are a lot of people involved that know nothing, but they get weeded out and the remaining worthy competitors vie for the title.

I'm in a private league with people I know and most of the managers showed up.

These were all 1st and 2nd round picks in my draft. How you got away with 4 of them is unbelievable.

Been in the same, 10-man local league for about 7 years now. This was actually the first year where all 10 owners didn't show up for draft day. We had one guy get called out of town on business but he drafted over speaker phone and with me typing up the draft on IM since he had access to his laptop. The first couple years, we had an owner or two new to fantasy football so they were at a big disadvantage just from not being familiar with NFL depth. But after playing for so many years, no one in our league is really considered to be an easy win.

With a 10 man league, it's hard to not have a solid starting lineup but leagues are won/lost in rounds 4-10 IMO. Everyone can pick a stud in the first few rounds but you have to know your stuff to get those #2/#3 RB's and WR's. And of course, there is a ton of luck involved when it comes to game day. Injuries plagued me last year so I'm hoping that's not the case this season.
