Bush is ill-fitted for the job of president. He's gotten as far as he has because he's a namesake of political royalty. I mean, c'mon, how many breaks do we give this guy? He gets into Yale because his grandfather/father/uncle/etc. were alumni, and graduates in the lower tier of his class. He gets rejected at UT law school and then Harvard Business School bails him out. He escapes combat in Vietnam by getting a Texas Representative to get him in a National Guard unit with a bunch of other senator's kids and Dallas Cowboys. He got in the same day he applied despite a waiting list of 100,000 applicants. He can't even finish a sentence without screwing it up. Please, tell me stories about how successful people overcame physical impediments, but if you're the proclaimed 'leader of the free world', you have to inspire a little confidence when you speak.
And then I read today that he's taking a month vacation to 'unwind'. This is in the middle of some tough times for the economy as well as society with all the national security issues going on. I'm sick of people verbally patting him on the back and saying he deserves it. When you sign on for the job as president you should implicitly understand that month-long vacations are out of the question. Hell, how many of us get to decide that we want to 'unwind' from our jobs for a month? What exactly does he do that he has to unwind for so long? He goes to bed at like 10:00 every night, even on the night of Sept. 11th when the rest of the nation was grieving. It wasn't too long ago that he took a 'working vacation' for 3 weeks. The US needs to demand more from its presidents, not some Joe Sixpack who doesn't quite know what's going on but is self-assured of having a heart of gold.
