How a 12-Year-Old Girl Could Help End Weed Prohibition in America

The second part is your standard apologists thing but the first makes no sense. What's that about?

The first part is in reference to the claim about cannabis affecting young brains. I mean, you'd think somebody would have noticed real differences in behavior somewhere in the last couple of thousand years. They apparently never did. But now there's new studies (New! NEW!) involving brain scans alleging cause & effect that may well just be putting the cart ahead of the horse. It's entirely possible that people with abnormal scans use more cannabis because their brains are abnormal in the first place. People will attempt to self-medicate.

If it's all Obama's fault, why can't you put the same onus on Dubya & Billy-bob? The facts have been known since the Carter years & before. I doubt that Obama would have pushed it on his own but he knew how to handle it when the opportunity presented itself. The smartest among the prohibitionists knew they were completely screwed down the road when he framed it as states' rights. Obama knew it too. That decision did more to advance the cause than any other event since prohibition began. But it's not good enough, right? It never is when it comes to Obama.

I think texas just voted to allow MMJ for seizures but did not establish a legal route for dispensaries in the state, so people basically have to import it in from another state.

Anyway I don't understand why politicians are so behind the times on this issue despite what the polls show, the rising costs of government and prisons, the medical benefits of marijuana, etc etc

not to mention industrial Hemp farms. there are a few here in Colorado and a 500 acre one was just a couple miles down the road from my house. I drove by it everyday to work and it took me a bit to figure out wtf it was. because they had people walking around the property all day and they had a RV parked in the middle of it and every now and then you would see a guy on the roof of the RV with binoculars .. lol

There is so many uses for hemp that the stupid ass ban on it needs to be removed. I was hearing some guys the barber shop talking about it just a couple of weeks ago and they were saying the profits from that farm is nearly 1000X higher than any other crop they plant around here.

Every President since Nixon could have done this but the science wasn't there. If you want to blame W then go for it. Obama was considered more enlightened but that's not true.

As far as the medical aspect yeah, weed is bad. Now there are a LOT of active substances in MJ. For medical purposes we don't need all of them. The endocannabinoid system is not as well understood as the endogenous opioids, however we have done work with animals and limited human studies which show that a shotgun is not needed to treat most conditions. The appropriate cannabinoid for this girl has not shown to be a problem at the doses used.

BTW, you know I'm a NY state certified practitoner in medical cannabis, right?

The never was any science behind prohibition. Saying that the science wasn't there for legalization is putting the cart before the horse. You demand that legalization proponents prove a negative while you prove nothing.

You might well be a prescribing physician but you ignore the fact that the argument has moved beyond MMJ & physician control to outright legalization and it's worked out fine wherever it's been done. That paradigm shift is irreversible. That's a very good thing because it's just better public policy. Other than the enforcers nobody gained anything at all from prohibition.

By all means, advocate research to isolate compounds effective for narrow medical purposes. Just don't go on as if legalization isn't inevitable. It's out of the hands of the medical profession. Obama helped make it that way.

Without reviewing anything about TX, I bet its CBD only, and no state certified dispensaries within reasonable distance.

I can't tell you what the laws are, but in Austin, the head and vape shops all seem to be advertising CBD oil.

And yes, it's CBD only at this point in time.

Figured, this is how red states are giving the public "medical MJ", without allowing for a wider spectrum of health issues to be addressed.

CBD works better in conjunction with other cannabinoids

the evil psychoactive (non narcotic) THC is the devil. Here drink this liquor and take these scripts

im sure some will just move. i wont be moving to a red state anytime soon, i dont share their view of freedom.

The pharmaceutical companies have a lot more money to bribe politicians. And they prefer people using their overpriced medicines which barely work and have lots of side effects (forcing people to use even more stuff to counter that) to a cheap alternative that works and on which they won't make (much) money.

I'm perfectly fine with the legalization of marijuana - especially for medicinal usage. But before it becomes commonplace, can they come up with some strains that don't smell so incredibly bad? That shit just stinks.

brah, many alternative methods.

in MA, one .org is called NETA, check it out....they have a menu for each location on their site, updated daily.

smoking is old school, most peeps i know use edibles or concentrates.

your complaint has been corrected 🙂

Yeah I know there's alternatives. I guess smoking is till prevalent around here (where it's still illegal) because many bars, concerts etc still stink of that sticky weed.

There is ample evidence that it causes permanent physical changes to the brain in humans if exposed during developmental stages.

It carries epigenetic changes that will inevitably code for cellular changes (epigentics is how the same DNA makes different cells, by turning on and off genes via acetylization and methylation of the individual genes).

It's not worse than alcohol though but it has a longer acting effect which means that it's more likely to become a problem in brain development.

HayabusaRider is right on this.

Mere assertion. Cite your sources. If that's true, then animal studies using control groups should yield similar results. Cite those while you're at it.

There is no question whether I'm right or wrong, I know I'm right and empirical evidence agrees with me on this. There are studies that are too new to post on this subject as well and you'll either have to trust me that they show what I say they show or not.

Near my office there are quite a few of large grow operations. there are some days that the stink so so bad its inside your car.

Drugs are an ancient way that animals use to alter their conscious state. Every system is maintained by programming, and altered states of consciousness are a threat to that. You have to have an altered state of the state before you can pass laws that will allow mind altering drugs to be taken legally. Our whole economic system is based on artificially generated need but drugs can destroy such needs. The problem is that people, sick with imaginary needs, use them t escape pain. The only way to solve the problem of pain is to feel it so drugs can also become a danger.

its all moot considering what we accept in our world.

prohibition of MJ was from feels, money, amd political motivations.

So what? Oddly enough, teen marijuana use fell significantly after legalization in CO-

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...lizing-marijuana-has-so-far-failed-to-happen/

Legalization doesn't include sales to teens, either.

None of your studies are remotely definitive. They're all couched in terms of uncertainty for obvious reasons, something that you haven't done.

Weed would be bad for her aside from the seizures. It does have adverse effects on developing brains. That said, "weed" isn't needed, but isolated compounds have been shown to be safe in the trials we're allowed to have and effective. In NY she could have access to cannabinoids which would be in oil because that's how to best deliver it. The Obama administration was chickenshit about it and Trump isn't going to be any better at all. Congress? Nope. I don't see that a lawsuit will compel anything but I'd love it if it did.

Pretty sure a lobotomy would have been worse for her brain.

We dont need to "end weed prohibition", in fact we need to launch a new crackdown on potheads nationwide. We need to send in federal agents to bust all the weed shops in California to start with and arrest everyone for violating federal law. That will send a message to the rest of the stoners that getting high will no longer be tolerated.

Dope is for dopes.

you are such a fucking poseur. You have no concept of the actual benefits of marijuana, you just wish you could grab her by the pussy.

No benefit need be shown. It's on the prohibitionists to show harm, to show cause to limit personal freedom. At this point, most of the country knows they've always been full of shit. Now that legalization has been shown to be better public policy people should be calling for their heads over all the damage that's done to people's lives & the credibility of govt thru enforcement of anti-cannabis law.
