What in the name of all that is good?

NOT ALL FORMS OF SOCIALISM IS EVIL. We depend on forms of socialism in our everyday lives.

The public road system is a socialist program.

The local sanitation department is a socialist program.

The US Military as well as local police departments are socialist organizations.

Public schools are socialist organizations. (NOTE: We completely understand why the GOP is trying to undermine education.)

This is all going so well. I'm mean when you've got the power combo of McCarthy, and Gym, I would expect nothing less.

According to interviews with more than a dozen House Republicans, a sizable chunk of the conference is focused on preventing a banking crisis and a looming debt fight instead of on Biden family oversight or a politicized government panel. At the same time, the party base is chafing at the lack of big bombshells and concrete steps against administration officials to back up all of lawmakers’ talk.

“All of us hear from constituents that they’re very anxious for results. And our task, part of our task, is explaining to people what this process is about, and what to expect,” Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.), a member of House GOP leadership, said in a brief interview. “I think some people get anxious because they just want immediate results.”

You guys need to learn from Fox and give them what they want.

Which is for us to spend a few months subpoenaing people based on the criteria of what will get the most headlines. When will then get red in the face and spend a few hours yelling at whoever actually appears. Then when we feel that no news organization is paying attention to our hysterics anymore, we will vote that Biden is a big nasty doodoo head, and then pass it to the floor for a vote to impeach. After doing this at least 3 times we will then hold a massive press conference to announce that we win! Biden will have been impeached more than Trump.
You know, normal Washington stuff.

And the McCarthy clown show returns:

The speaker is fully prepared to ride out the coming storm and move ahead with a short-term spending bill to fund the government, despite repeated warnings from his right flank that such a move would result in a floor vote to remove him, called the motion to vacate the chair.

“Move the f***ing motion,” he said, according to four sources in the room.

If all Democrats support the move, as many of them are signaling they would, it would take just five Republicans to succeed, thrusting the House into chaos.
At that point, the House would be paralyzed until a new speaker is elected.

ahh.. it's a year later and trailers for the Clown show sequel is being aired.
Like most sequels, it doesnt seem to be as good as the original.

Lets see if this will be fully released or will it be pulled off the shelves?

Haha if Democrats were smart they’d want to limit the scope of that special prosecutor along with their votes.

IMO Democrats are far more likely to save McCarthy than do him in.

Problem is McCarthy will show absolutely zero appreciation for doing so. I am hoping Ds play hard and get some solid concessions that are more than agreements in principle. Hard concessions that will happen. Commitments that are binding or have to happen. None of the I’ll do it.
Modern day Republicans cannot be trusted to uphold their end of any deal.

So far it has taken far too long. We’ve been talking about this for about 13 years.

Only reason they'll side with him is to avoid shutdown.

But as I keep saying, Dems should find those 5 sane R's to actually get stuff done

Problem is, your (and my) definition of what constitutes "sanity" is totally different than that of even the most moderate Republican. For the House Republi-Turds, "sanity" is an overrated personality quirk.

I'll believe that a sane one exists when I see them with my own eyes...

McCarthy should call their bluff....

If they don’t remove him, it was all a bluff and he can ignore them going forward as the powerless spoiled children they are. And if they do remove him, the R House delegation will very publicly tear itself apart for 6 or 12 months creating lots of opportunities for D congressmembers and congressmember wannabes to stoke public resentment over these clowns. Improving the D’s seat haul in 2024. The problem with McCarthy doing what he’d doing, repeatedly submitting to the terrorists demands, is that it simply encourages them to wave the same (fake) bomb around the room again and demand more. And more. Do not negotiate with people like that. Especially do not appease people like that.

Seems he has now, we'll soon see the fallout. Never seen so much infighting among the GOP, but we've never had idiots like the GQP, Tea Party, Freedumb Caucus, etc. IDC, let them tear themselves apart.

Occasionally it takes a person who you would never guess to solve big problems.
Kevin just might be that moron. I wish him well.

Got to watch the continuing clown show (Garland testifying on the Hunter Biden investigation) this morning on News Nation, courtesy of what was on the TV in the dealership waiting room, while having a oil and filter change. Must be one of those freebees on what ever network they have. Same shit different day. As Schiff said, this is just interference as a Defacto government supplied diversion from the fact that Trump is under indictment.

Excuse me, those are professional idiots. You can tell by the way they dress, that's what makes them professionals, not whether they actually do their job.

- Could you imagine how embarrassing this would be if they made these idiotic decisions wearing *hoodies*?!

It's like McCarthy is trying to herd cats....

...if the cats were selfish assholes who couldn't be satisfied with any concessions unless the whole damn thing is burning to the ground.

I don't think they're bluffing. In theory, McCarthy has conservative bona fides but the Freedumb Caucus is too stupid to care. It's partly his fault for selling out control in order to finally win the gavel.

However, if they axe Kevin, we have no idea who they could coalesce around for the Speakership. If you squint hard enough, you might even think that Democrat Hakeem Jeffries has a better chance than those riding the House GOP clown car.

And at that point, they still wouldn't be satisfied.

I don't think they would coalesce around a new person. It would just be a continual clown show because of the slim R majority being smaller than the crazy pants caucus.

What I hope happens is that McCarthy, a few non-insane Rs, and the Ds end up passing a CR or whatever to prevent the shutdown. And THEN someone like Gaetz calls for the speaker to be vacated. Unending shit show.
