That will be a major sticking point in any budget negotiations. The party of fiscal responsibility has no interest in actually making sure taxes owed are paid.
I doubt the democrats give much on that one. If nothing else amusingly enough cutting those agents would increase the deficit.

The only thing I’m majorly concerned about is the debt ceiling. Democrats can’t give a single inch on it as giving in ensures a future default so it’s entirely up to whether or not they can get 6 GOP votes to stave off a global meltdown. I feel like this time the GOP will want to dip their toe into what that meltdown looks like.

Really though Biden should just mint the coin and end this nonsense forever.

Yes. Let the GOP shut down the gov in September if they want when funding runs out but fuck them on a default, we're not doing that.

The debt limit is ultra stupid and we should ignore it since the tool exists to do so.

Mike Rogers lost his shit and wanted the hide of Gaetz because they were going to give that dirtbag a gavel on an Armed Services subcommittee.

Gaetz isn’t fit to chair a dog catcher committee

thought mccarty rejected Gaetz's demand to be sub-committee chair?

heck, what happened to no committees for those Repubs that voted against McCarty?

That was never a credible threat. Everyone knows McCarthy is incredibly weak.

Speaker has no direct say on who is on which committee. It’s the steering committee that assigns members.

Yeah it’s going to be a real shit show come July and August. Part of the concessions were there would be open debate on the debt ceiling and essentially the debt ceiling wouldn’t move to a a floor vote unless there are spending cuts including cuts to non discretionary spending like SS and Medicare, as well as cuts to discretionary items like Defense. While no tax increases to raise revenue. Essentially they are wanting to implement the budget blue print that one of the village idiots came out with before the election that the GOP didn’t publicly or officially adopt because it would have cost them the election if they all publicly supported cuts to SS, Medicare and military spending.

These fuckers are going to burn down the government. That’s always been their plan. They couldn’t do it externally on Jan 6 so they are going to do it internally.

The only thing that will save us this go around with the debt ceiling hostage takers is if the moderate wing of the GOP gets fed up calls for ousting the speaker joins up with the democrats and then passes a new rules resolution. Who will be the seven to live up to their constitutional duties instead of fealty to their party? I guess we will find out if they exist before the year is out.

This simp is nothing but a MAGA puppet of the extreme right. The fight we don't see is between Bobert and Gaetz over which one of them have custody of Kevin's tiny balls.

Gaetz went on to say that if McCarthy should seek to make concessions to the far-right caucus in order to win, he would sentence himself to governing in a “straitjacket for the entirety of his term.”

Made Speaker by the 15th vote:
This is not the end of House Speaker Kevin McCarthy's nightmare, rather just the beginning.

Next Nightmare: make the House rules

This week Republicans must try to coalesce around the concessions McCarthy made and pass a package of rules to govern the House for the next two years.
It's an open question whether the party's moderates, such as they are, will all buy in to the cut, cut, cut mentality McCarthy has agreed to.

Just like with his quest to be speaker, McCarthy will rely only on Republicans to pass the rules package and he can only afford to lose four.

governing in a "straitjacket" indeed...

# If need Popcorn for each act that McCarty does
, then I need WAAAAY more popcorn just to get through the end of the month

Now that he's speaker, it would be soooooooooooooo much easier for him to reach across the aisle and include democrats to get the 218 votes.
He just needs ~20Dems to join him.
(20 repubs voted against McCarthy for speaker in most of the Speaker voting rounds)

I know it seems like simple math on paper, but I have doubts it'd pan out like that in reality. With all the concessions and promises that McCarthy's made, and the expectations from members of his own party, I'd be surprised if 20 Dems would vote for any of the bills they'll put out anytime soon. We'll have to wait and see, but I fully expect nothing but hyped fuckery from the House GOP for the next 2 years. They WANT to prevent anything getting done.

I have a great idea for Democrats when house republicans start going after Dr Fauci and Hunter Biden. And it's an easy solution. When republicans get their committees together and start issuing subpoenas against Hunter and the doctor, Joe Biden.... "President" Joe Biden... just needs to grant Hunter and Dr Fauci and whomever else these republicans try to go after, Biden needs to grant them all a full, free, and absolute presidential pardons.
However, Biden should wait until the very last minute after republicans have went thru all the work in putting together their committees. Let republicans waste their time and money getting their committees together first, and THEN Biden should grant the pardons.
I do not believe Hunter nor Fauci need be accused or charged with a crime in order for Biden to take action in granting pardons. Nixon had not been charged when Ford granted Nixon a full pardon.

Seriously, Biden must do this. Even if some say it is illegal or not constitutional, just do it anyway then house republicans can send it to the court(s) if they want to. And all the way up to the supreme court if they want. It would be interesting to see how this Trump supreme court would rule because if this were a lawsuit over Trump pardoning insurrectionist brought to the high court, we know how the court would rule.
After all, Trump will handout pardons left and right should he ever become president again.

Very soon house republicans will absolutely go after Dr Fauci as if Fauci himself invented Covid, and will absolutely go after Hunter Biden. And, most likely will go after every member on the Jan 6th committee. Biden, "president" Joe Biden, can grant them all pardons. Then, lets see what house republicans will do with their time during the next two years. Their balloon would be deflated.

But the best thing from all this? Watching Fox News have a complete hysterical meltdown. Oh, wouldn't THAT be wonderful!!!!

why would you grant pardons to people that have committed absolutely zero crimes?

Better question....
WHY would house republicans go after people that have committed absolutely zero crimes???

The pardons are to protect the innocent like Dr Fauci from the republican BULLSHIT.

Wow, if your description of the concessions is accurate (I'm not criticizing, I just don't know) and if cuts to Medicare and SS are going to be a necessary part of even getting the debt ceiling increase to a vote, that's a horrendous leap back. Sounds like the upcoming rules vote is going to be extremely critical.

By accepting a pardon, you admit your guilt. While you mean well with this, this is almost as stupid as any MTG idea. And once pardon is granted, one MUST testify in front congress. And you cant plead the 5th
