i would have bet that this will be the shortest Speakership in history until i just found out that Theodore Medad Pomeroy was the Speaker for one day in 1869.

any guesses on how long McCarthy will last as the Speaker?
Lol after this congress gets sworn in

Take some dynamite up in there and blow up where it says IN GOD WE TRUST hanging overhead everyone. I'll get popcorn if you can get someone to record it.
That didn't get plastered on everything including money in the US until the 1950s. Gotta fight that red scare, dontchya know. Good clean Christianity is the best way to fight devils!

This is what they believe... They believe that YOU have it too easy and Goldman Sachs needs all the help that congress can give. Then there's the Trump thing, he's the victim too.

Unless something drastically changes, my guesstimate prediction is that Congress will not increase the debt ceiling and will, for the first time in history, default on it's financial obligations. Most likely the credit agencies will then downgrade USA's credit rating, thus triggering a rising spiral of interest rate increases and inflation. It will also push sooner the replacement of the dollar as the international bedrock currency-which will pump up federal borrowing rates even more.

If anyone is considering borrowing money do it now and go fixed rate for sure. These guys want to burn down the house and McCarthy is enabling them.

It's truly sad, especially in light of the fact there is no real policy debate-unless the years before the Civil War.

OTOH I'm sure Musk is delighted someone else is stealing the shitshow spotlight.

McCarthy said "Because it took this long, now we've learned how to govern. So now we'll be able to get the job done." As if taking this long to select a Speaker has a damn thing to do with actual governing. Hopefully there will be a vote every day to oust him.

Finally, now they can move on to the real shitshow. McCarthy still trying to suck Trump's ass, so nauseating. First order of business, neuter the IRS like they did Kevin's new position. Here comes a shut down.

What a bunch of muppets.

He will be in it for the term. Sure anyone can call a vote but as of now and likely the foreseeable future nobody wants to degrade themselves to the cuck level Kevin has.

Going to guess he lasts a surprising long amount of time simply due to the fact enough GOP will not want to go through all this shit again anytime soon.

That being said, I think he will be historically ineffective and unproductive wrt legislation.

They may want to do that but even though they are morons, these morons have masters. They will put on a show but I don't think they will be allowed to let that happen.

Biden will have to mint the coin and there will be a prolonged government shutdown later this year when funding runs out. No, these people are not likely not smart enough to avoid a debt ceiling crisis especially after continually giving in to the worst of their right flank time after time.

Can they? Not like there’s any important bill they can bury defunding the IRS that needs to be passed currently. So Schumer will do a Moscow Mitch and leave a stack of proposed house bills sitting on his desk. But the rules package, they said they’ll do bills issue by issue. I bet it will take less than 5 proposals before attempt to lump the IRS to some other important bill.

Disappointed the spineless one didn’t pander to his crazy base and mention at all Hunter in his speech. So he does have a limit and know how bad it would look it he did list that as a top priority in his first speech as speaker

How else would they continue to blame Biden for rising gas prices and inflation? Create the crisis—lie about why it happened to your sheeple—then point the finger.

How can they do that with the Dems in charge of the Senate and Presidency?
