Heard an R rep say they’ll make a choice in a few days, guess it’ll be Monday or Tuesday before we know unless something drastic happens.

For those keeping track, since Gaetz nominated him for Speaker, this is yet ANOTHER election Trump lost!

Anyway ....The "strategy" seems to be is to wring as many concessions as possible out of an increasingly desperate McCarthy but never vote for him. Then if the rest of the party switches to Scalise, Donalds they will insist on those concessions in exchange for their support.

The only way I see the Dems even consider helping is if someone who voted to impeach Trump is nominated and they get equal numbers of seats on all committees.

But .... Thier Popcorn is getting stale and for the good of the country, of the world even, both need a US government that can function. Crises can happen any moment. Our enemies are watching.

It would be pretty hard for the Democrats to clean up the bed, since the R’s are still shitting in it, and have made it clear that they plan on shitting in the bed for the foreseeable future. Cleaning the bed once will accomplish nothing. The only solution is for the Republicans THEMSELVES to stop shitting the bed, and to stop the future plans to shit the bed.

Moving on to Scalise or Stefonik won’t help. The 4-5 hardline never spineless one said no one in leadership is acceptable. They only way they can force their hand is threaten to not vote at make it a huge possibility to have Jeffries win with his 212.

Now we know... now we know who these people really are, how they were absorbed into a cult, how they could defend the voilent attack on the capitol, how they could prefer dictatorship over democracy, how they could prefer Putin over Biden, now we know all of it. Yes, now we know. The entire world now knows just how crazy they are.
So they keep saying that DEMOCRACY IS MESSY. No... in this case democracy is not messy, they are crazy. Textbook crazy. Welcome to crazy.
And the scary thing is, they themselves cannot see just how crazy they actually are. Now that's pretty scary. But I assume most crazy people do not feel that they are crazy.

The only reason McCarthy is willing to drag this out "indefinitely" is because there is no clear GOP alternative to 218 either. But I believe McCarthy and potentially Scalise have a non-zero chance of becoming Speaker. It's hard to imagine Gym Jordan getting enough support; it would seem more likely that ten Democrats would flip to McCarthy than allow Jordan to become Speaker of the House.

But perhaps I see things through rose-colored glasses.

It's probably a good think to move on from one impossibility to some other impossibility for the sake of variety at least.

McCarthy won't cave, the crazies won't cave, Perhaps a few Republicans with courage will vote for the Democrat, but that might not happen either.

Could we reach a state of disaster that would require Martial law and the arrest of House member insurrectionists to restore a functioning House? Probably not.

This reminds me of a Zen story about a man hanging from a cliff with tigers above and tigers below.

Well, Kevin already moved into the Speaker's office, because he deserves it... I think the Capitol police should arrest him for trespassing, might even get a majority in the House to agree to that lol
