I'm still wondering if it'd be a good thing or a bad thing for the Democrats and the nation as a whole if the loonie Freedom Caucus gets ahold of the House leadership either through emasculating McCarthy or having one of their own seize the position.
Probably won't happen although with the GOP in such disarray......
Listening to their demands, I don't think much would change in actual practice. They want a few symbolic votes on legislation that will go nowhere, demands for certain chairmanships and changing faces, other than that....
Maybe the demand to more easily add amendments that cut budgets, but again, will mostly result in more poison pills and deadlock imo.
Overall, just seems like a recipe for greater dysfunction, but gop had already been nearly maximally dysfunctional and unable to pass meaningful legislation, so what would be different?
I guess more drama, maybe even default on debt ceiling?
All of which I would say are good for Dems in 2024, bad for country in near term, but better off in longer term if the terrorists never get true power
