Just good back from the bank, the house we are looking at will have a payment of $207, the house is only 48,000 though.

City / State?

Mine was $32,500... but then I poured about double that into the money pit.

dam....that is like a car payment. If you cannot afford that, you did something horribly wrong...

Nothing wrong with taking out a 30 year, as long as you pay extra on it. You can still pay it off in 10 years or 15 years - whichever you decide - if you want to pay it off sooner.

Congrats on living in an affordable area.

private party so its not listed anywhere, clarion, pa but still is relatively cheap for the area. Timing is right as the family was looking to unload it.

I knew a guy when I lived in Kansas a few years ago...he had 2 houses outside of a small "town" (I use that word loosely in relation to Kansas). The army had moved an infantry division back to ft...whatever it is and he decided hed rent one out.

his mortgage for the *2* was something like $400, so he lived in one, and rented the other for enough to cover both his house payments

My wife rented an admittedly tiny house for $175/mo in KS, and had an option to purchase for $9,000.
