Pence asked Dan Quale for advice on whether or not he, as Vice President, has the power to end democracy in the USA. This tells me that Pence targeted an idiot like Dan Quale, hoping that his best advice would be to go ahead and end democracy, thus telling everyone else that Dan Quale told him to do it.

Trump had already called for his mob to take out Pence, his own VP. and Pence still walked back in to the top of the fellatio line in front of Trump after the insurrection, anyway.

You can't trust the empty husk of human flesh that is Mike Pence.
I think contacting Quayle made perfect sense as he is the only living Republican VP to take part in what he was about to take part in - certifying your own defeat.

Pence did the right thing in the face of enormous pressure.

And they won't confirm.
Well as Trump showed confirmations are no longer required so that's not a big issue.

They're 'Pubs. As Legislators, their job is to make laws. They'll make the laws to allow them to do it.
So you're saying in 2022 you expect Republicans to pick up seventeen Senate seats to gain a veto/impeachment ready majority? That would be quite a feat as Democrats only have 14 up for election.

If not, everything you just claimed would happen is impossible.

^^^ C'mon dude ... think Mitch ... or worse, somebody like Hawley. They won't need 2/3rds. They'll change the rules just like Mitch did for SCOTUS.

Moscow Mitch followed Harry Reid's precedent to use the nuclear option.
We should be clear, Harry Reid followed Republican precedent and enforced the Republicans' own deal.

People really memory holed this whole thing and forget that Reid was giving in to Republican demands when he nuked the filibuster.

Any regulations against using an non secure phone for governmental activity?
Avoids the Retention of Records act. Specifically illegal? Not a lawyer.

‘§ 2209. Disclosure requirement for official business conducted using non-official electronic messaging accounts ‘‘(a) IN GENERAL.—The President, the Vice President, or a covered employee may not create or send a Presidential or Vice Presidential record using a non-official electronic message account unless the President, Vice President, or covered employee— ‘‘(1) copies an official electronic messaging account of the President, Vice President, or covered employee in the original creation or transmission of the Presidential record or Vice Presidential record; or ‘‘(2) forwards a complete copy of the Presidential or Vice Presidential record to an official electronic messaging account of the President, Vice President, or covered employee not later than 20 days after the original creation or transmission of the Presidential or Vice Presidential record. ‘‘(b) ADVERSE ACTIONS.—The intentional violation of subsection (a) by a covered employee (including any rules, regulations, or other implementing guidelines), as determined by the appropriate supervisor, shall be a basis for disciplinary action in accordance with subchapter I, II, or V of chapter 75 of title 5, as the case may be. Deadline. 4

Any regulations against using an non secure phone for governmental activity?
Complicated question ...

First, conducting a violent insurrection likely wouldn't fall into the "duties of the office" for the various records acts/policies. But, those participants in question probably aren't going to use that defense (for obvious reasons). So, then you fall into the use of personal devices/accounts for "govt." business, which is an issue.

Has nothing to do with secure/unsecure though. Eh, unless they were talking troop movements or potentially USSS protected individuals and their locations.

The people calling him or receiving calls from him that day (and I'm sure at other times) knew they were calling something other than his 'official' phone. Hello? Those in his circle knew.

Odd how people like @compuwiz1 who are so concerned about Hunter Biden's laptop have nothing to say about the former president lying about covering up his activities during an insurrection designed to overthrow the republic. doing what he could to remain in office despite everyone ganging up on him to steal his rightful office for life.
Fixed your post.

Means there were calls either not entered into the record, or the record was scrubbed.

Agree, that is way worse than the burner phone nonsense.
I think the article mentions that the calls are entered electronically(automatically). So most likely they were scrubbed at some point.
