House is easily the best show on tv right now

It's not even the best show on tuesdays. In fact, it's the 4th best show on tuesdays, after Thief, Veronica Mars, and Scrubs. Still, it's quite entertaining nontheless

I'd say it's OK - say a 6/10. It's well-acted, but it might be the most predictable show on TV - every episode is essentially the same formula, over and over and over. I have given up watching it as a result (though I watched most of the first season). IMO it's crazy to say it's better than The Sopranos or 24, among several others.

24 is perhaps the only show on TV that is more cliched, formulaic, and predictable. I still like them both but House edges out 24 as my favorite program based on the characters and acting.

My friends had me watch house for the first time last night. They told me it was an amazing show. Here are my first impressions:

They make Dr. House out to be some sort of God, it's a little annoying. He knows and has read EVERYTHING. Yet you never see him study, or look at any book for reference. All he is doing is deducing these mysteries, in his civilian clothes, and hobbling around on his cane acting like an ass to everyone. Someone that is supposedly as smart and all-knowing as House is would at least know the most effective way to communicate is not to act like a complete a'wipe to everyone you know.

He knows perfect manderin (a detail they just like to throw in when it's convenient)... and has apperently read a 60+ page medical article, that this random guy out of the blue asks if he knows about. Yet, the only time you see him, he is either sleeping, or solving some vague mystery with a couple random clues. I know doctors are smart, but this is a little stupid.

Also, I don't know wtf you guys are talking about with character development. Only small portions of the shows diologue aren't filled with seemingly complex medical terms. Them spouting off as many medical terms as they do rather than coming off as "wow this is a very intelligent and realistic show" came off as the stupid kid using big words to try and sound smart. I'm sure all the terms were accurate descriptions of actual conditions, but it's a show on national TV, you've got to speak to the common man (i.e. me).

I would say the show was "okay" but the characters, and circumstances are far too annoying for me to continue watching this show reguarly

disclaimer: I've never worked in an enviroment portrayed in the show, so I really have no idea what it may or may not be like in real life. These were just my impressions of the show. Also, I currently watch no tv show reguarly, in fact I hate tv in general and wouldn't have expected to like this show in the first place.

False, in a few episodes he has just scoured books looking for a clue. He does not know everything. He is often wrong several times before eventually being right, and I am pretty sure on a few occasions he's ultimately been wrong.

Disagree. Many eccentric / antisocial people are brilliant.

You're assuming that there is never any time lapse between episodes and that he deals with cases in rapid fire succession. We have actually seen him reading medical journals, although usually with a devious purpose (e.g. the indian journal he read as prep for crashing a former classmate's lecture).

I'm not so sure all the terms and medicine are accurate. Anyway you have just described every medical show, ever. There are bits and pieces of drama and loads of comedy in every episode. I don't know that I would say it has great character development, but I definitely would say it has great characters. I doubt many people watch the show for the medicine as much as the dialogue.

I like the show because of the characters and the humor in their interactions, but the weekly story lines are too formula.

And Cameron is just adorable.

I don't watch it religiously because of my work schedule but it is a good show. By the way the theme music happens to be by one of my favorite bands. Massive Attack... nifty huh?

Agreed. House and Family Guy are the ONLY two TV shows I watch weekly.

Those are the two shows I watch regularly too, although House is my favorite of the two. Being a premed student, I enjoy the medical discussion in addition to the character development. However, a few times they've given some weak explanations.

Interesting, am I to infer that those are the only shows you watch? Not all of them are medical themed so that's what I took from the post.

For me, just the shows above, it's:

Lost>Prison Break>House>24>Nip/Tuck>Eating rat feces>Grey's Anatomy

For shows overall it's too complicated. Probably something like:

The Wire>Deadwood=The Shield>Rescue Me=Veronica Mars>Lost=Battlestar Galactic=Thief=The Sopranos=Curb Your Enthusiasm>Doctor Who=Big Love=Entourage>holy crap I'm tired of listing TV shows and no one cares anyway.

Nah, someone mentioned 24 so I figured they were all game but far from being the only ones I watch. This time last year, I would have ranked Lost ahead of them all, but season 2 has been pretty anticlimatic compared to the pilot season. I just find it way too slow this year with the nonstop flashbacks and lack of real action.

I got on board with Nip/Tuck just before the last season started watched all of the previous seasons just prior to that. Not sure I've ever been so engulfed with a show as much as I am that one. The Carver stuff started to get a bit cheesy but the show as a whole is fantastic.

I like Grey's. It can be a bit "girly" but I find it entertaining with some very interesting story lines.

Lost has gone downhill, so has battlestar galactica. Guess it's still better to be a show that burns brightly at first than never at all.

I got tired of nip/tuck before the carver stuff became prominent. I couldn't get over the soap opera aspects, even though they were done extremely well. What held me for a while was the technical plastic surgery stuff, but even that eventually lost me.

House and Grey's Anatomy are probably about tied in my book. I'm also addicted to Smallville, although I blame my friend for that one.

Beyond those three shows, though, I really don't watch much TV outside of Adult Swim.

you are fools for saying anything is better than 24. FOOLS

Everyone loves jack bauer. Not everyone loves stupidity in writing, that's where the problem with 24 lies in many cases.
