I was just reading and posting at Ars Technica when something moved in the shade on the wall, a couple of feet from me about head height. The sudden moves caught my lateral field of view and I recognized a house centipede. Used a tissue to make the little critter fall into an ice cream plastic jar. Try as it did, it could not climb more than an inch or so without falling back so I went to get a penny and, knowing how some of you like pics of multilegged critters, took some pics. :camera:
Since I don't have a macro lens, it took four tries before the autofocus on my camera did its job properly but only one pic is worth posting. I then went to release the little ah heck down the hallway since there is not much for it to eat in my apartment.
Anyway, here's the pic of the little guy. Only one caudal appendage (the antennalike thingie sticking out near its bum) shows up because it simply dropped the other and I could not take a pic of the released/broken bit unfortunately. Don't think that harmed it very much.
