I had my AC on a while ago. Feeling good now! 😛

That's at night. It will get much hotter during the day. Essentially what they're saying is because it will still stay warm at night there won't be much way to recover if you don't have A/C. Ex: opening windows.

It normally goes down to low double digits to high single digits at night here so if you don't have A/C you just open windows at night.

Yeah, I know. It was 29C here last night 😛 I'm just giving you guys a hard time. I know you folks up there don't build for that. It's like freezing temperatures down on the coast.

102F (38.8C) here today with the heat index at 106F (41.11C). A nice 68F (20C) inside. My wife is on the couch watching Netflix and is covered in a blanket. The ground outside is melting into glass. Ha ha, Just another Summer day in North Texas. Our worst Summer was 1980 when we had 69 days with temperatures of 100F (37.78C) or higher.

One thing I would be kinda curious to see in these crazy hot places is if it's possible to reflow a circuit board on a car dash. Would that meet JEDEC specifications? 😛

I would imagine you could. One Summer my wife and I went on vacation. Before we left home, I was taking everything out of my pickup, except I accidentally left an unopened soft drink can on the dash. When we got back home and was pulling into the driveway, I noticed that the glass on my pickup looked strange. When I opened the passenger side door, I found that the soft drink must have got to an extreme boiling point, exploded, shot all around the cab, and coated every surface. It must have happened early on because everything was coated in a dry sticky mess. The boiling point of water is 212F (100C) and for the can to explode and blow out the side of the aluminum can, the temperature was probably much higher.

This abstract claims that the temperature inside a parked car can be 80C higher than outside. It mentions Aswan in Egypt, which routinely hits 42C, so I'd imagine it can do some damage. I left a bottle of Yoohoo in my car for about a month in the summer and it split into clear water and little brown spheres.

I imagine that with the soft drink can on the dash, the windshield acted like a magnifying glass and focused more sunlight and heat on the can.

I now put up a sun shade on my windshield and I slightly open the moon roof to let the heat vent out. I also turn th AC in the car to maximum before leaving. When I leave work, I use the OnStar app and have my car cooled down before I get in.

98 today plus humidity so heat index (the temperate your body would encounter) was over 100.

Misery and July and August with even more high temperate are coming. Yike.

Well the heat warning just came on here too.

Heat Warning in effect for:

  • London - Parkhill - Eastern Middlesex County
  • Strathroy - Komoka - Western Middlesex County
Extreme heat event for the Canada Day long weekend.

On Canada Day, daytime highs are forecast to reach the mid thirties with humidex values into the mid forties. Daytime highs in the low thirties are expected to persist through most of next week. Overnight low temperatures are expected to be in the low to mid twenties, except high teens in some rural areas, providing little or no relief from the heat.

This will be the most significant heat event in the past few years.

Extreme heat affects everyone.

The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.

Watch for the effects of heat illness: swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ONstorm@canada.ca or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
you got it easier than we do.

😛

Sound like you need a vacation from your heat wave. Book a flight to DFW and you can tour the area. Then you can stay in the spare bedroom but you are not allowed to touch the thermostat.

I went outside briefly today. Every time I walk back in the house it feels like walking into a freezer. It's awesome.

My house is at about the same temperature as yours. Only difference I imagine is that I have one 4 ton and one 3 ton ACs cooling my house.

My unit is 2 ton, house is 1100sqft. TBH I would not mind if it was like 3 ton, they say it's not good to oversize a unit but I figure it can't really hurt that much as long as you don't go overboard. 😛

holy crap!

a highway here is closed due to the pavement buckling under the heat today:

http://lfpress.com/news/local-news/now-thats-hot-two-area-roads-buckle-due-to-heat

A section of Highway 3 is closed in Essex County after it buckled due to the extreme heat.

OPP announced the closure just before 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Highway 3 is closed between Malden Road and Ellis Side Road in Tecumseh and Lakeshore.

Police said two sections of the road have buckled due to the heat and are considered unsafe to drive on. The sections of road will be closed until further notice, police said.

😱

Lol that's pretty crazy. We have all sorts of weather statements going on here. heat warning, thunderstorm warning, tornado warning. The clouds don't really look all that menacing though, I think it's all going to pass. Heard a bit of thunder earlier and that's about it. This extreme heat tends to generate thunderstorms then it cools right down.

there is a huge system moving across mid-northern Ontario. We may get some rain Monday afternoon.

we're looking at highs of 31C until Thursday.

We have a day where they are announcing 36! I'll be working too, probably going to be ridiculously busy with high temp alarms everywhere. Should be a fun one.

101°F outside
 no A/C for me

Definitely hotter than Egypt. Egypt (Cairo) was 91° today - what's up with that?
