Hotmail is such a joke

Triumph

Lifer
I signed up for Hotmail the other day, and I haven't checked it since then. Haven't sent any emails from it, haven't used it for any reason. I log in there today and this is what I see:
Inbox 53 (53 new)
Junk Mail 393 (393 new)

What a joke! Upon entering my Inbox, THIS is what I see:
Dear MSN Hotmail user:

Because your account has exceeded the 2 MB storage limit you must take one of the following actions:

1. Increase your storage limit

2. Reduce the storage you use

If you do not take action in the next 5 days, some of your messages will be automatically deleted by the Hotmail Janitor. Once these messages are deleted, they cannot be recovered. The additional sections of this letter have information that we hope will be useful to you in taking appropriate action.

ditto

My hotmail is really good and I get minimal spam.......

i get about 5 spam in my inbox a day.. then again.. i've used this email for the last 4 years.. and its never going away like my isp mail accounts do... and its free... so no complaints here

Same exact thing happened to me. I signed up, forgot that I had, remembered like 2 weeks later and enter to find a bunch of spam.

So I switched to a yahoo account as my main account, and have never gotten spam there.

heh, i get about 75-100 emails/day in my hotmail account. usually about 1 per week is something i actually want. the rest is spam...

I never get any spam in my hotmail account, but I've only had it for about 2 months and only use it for communication with friends and stuff.

i use hotmail for all the free things i get from the "hot deals" forum. turn the filter on high ... and most of it gets tossed out. i only use my .edu acct for friends and family.

Hmm, I should feel lucky that I only average about one spam weekly in my Hotmail box, and only about one spam monthly in my Yahoo! box.

I think Yahoo! is better, as it offers the user 6mb for free. Yahoo's spam filter also works very well, IMHO.

Actually, Hotmail serves a purpose for me. I get about zero spam in my real mail account, so I use the hotmail one anytime I signup for a freebie, or register to win something. It get's 50+ emails per day, and the only people who contact me thru my real account are friends, family and people I deal with in trading on AT.

<< i'm not seeing your logic here, hotmail is a joke because people send you spam? >>

Read my post: I signed up for hotmail just a few days ago, and I haven't sent a single thing on it yet.

i did read your post, and my question stands. are you asserting that hotmail is selling your email address? you know, a lot of spammers just type in random email addresses.

<< no no, hotmail is a joke because your too stupid to turn on the junkmail filter >>

Jesus christ, is Anyone reading my post???? JUNK MAIL 393 (393 new)

Again, I guess I need to spell things out. Brand new email address, a few days old. Over 400 spam emails already. I haven't even used the account in any way shape or form. You decide if 400+ random spammers are going to hit my email addy in just a few days.

all you did was reiterate what you said initially... are you saying that hotmail is spamming you? that they're generating spam to send to you? all i'm asking is, where you see that hotmail is at fault. are you saying they have bad spam filters?

<< no no, hotmail is a joke because your too stupid to turn on the junkmail filter😛 >>

I have my junk mail filter set to "High" and I have my blocked senders list completely maxxed out. Still, I get about 5 emails/day in my inbox and about 20 emails/day in my junk mail box.

Of course, I've been using the address to sign up for everything on the web, so I've been asking for it for some time.

i got too much spam so i switched over to yahoo, never got any spam until i e-mailed my friend who had a hotmail account, now i'm getting a few things...46 yesterday....but it all goes into bulk mail folder, so it's easy to delete it all
