Woohoo, I got the 5.5 ns one.
Thanks for the info on the card.
I get 3x the FPS compared to my old TNT2 Ultra.
Using it with a P3-600B...

I'm starting to wonder if it really matters if the memory is "marked" as 5.5 or 7ns...

Has anyone gotten their 5.5ns memory running (without ANY visual anomalies) > 410 MHz?

The core on my [revision C 7ns memory specimen] has a ceiling of only 217 (perhaps higher with a different heatsink), but the "7ns" memory appears to be 100% stable up to 196 (392) MHz, then artifacts gradually increase with addt'l clock rate, to the point of being excessive/unplayable at about 204 (408) MHz.

can anyone tell me how much better is this than what I currently got (GeForce 2MX original one). The price is not all that good considering for 50 bucks more you can get a cheap G3

It's greatest advantage over the GF2MX is running at higher resolutions (or using FSAA). I wouldn't switch from a GF2MX to this unless you recoup the difference by selling the GF2MX. A GF3 for $100 is a good deal too, but that is double the price of this card, so it's all relative, depends what system you have and what your needs are. BTW, who is selling a GF3 for $100? I saw the ~$119 w/rebate post.

Got the card today, threw it into the system, loaded the Detonator drivers, installed PowerStrip, and let her fly all the way up. It oc'ed to the highest settings, although when I ran a game it didn't like that very much. I got the 5.5ns ram, and I ordered it late...

Like I said, the mem are probably under voltaged... 5.5ns RAM should do 400+ EASILY, not onlt 350-380s... come on you engineers, find out how to mod the voltage!

hey when u guys OC this card, did you guys MOD it in any way? like add a larger heatsink more fans, etc? or did u just leave it as it came and just OCed that bad boy?

Hello folks,
what is the fastest stable detonator driver version for this babby?

how about the oc tools, which one is small in size (mem/exe size) that doest the job?

thanks,

I can point you in the right direction, but the rest (and the risk) is completely up to you... Here is the voltage regulator module datasheet. On page 4 of that datasheet is the logic for the voltage-setting pins.

I haven't touched the cooling on mine. I think the increase I would get from a better core 'sink or memory 'sinks isn't worth the bother, especially on a $50 card. Memory 'sinks usually only help a few MHz if that (unless you're going to try using that data sheet I linked to above), and the core isn't much of a bottleneck if you have it over 190... jumping from a core of 200 to 215, for example, I only saw about 1% better 3DMark2001 score, though YMMV.

succubiss- I believe your motherboard has a 440BX chipset. Before sending your new card back, I would search the Intel site for updated chipset drivers.....especially AGP drivers. This could possibly solve your problem.

For my overclocking, I have made no physical modifications. I am thinking about buying another one and attempting to perform the geforce2 to quadro2 modification. Has anyone out there tried that with this card? I know that it may not really boost game performance, but it's supposed to boost performance in many professional 3D applications, which is something I'd be very interested in.

Hi
Anyone out there using the 5632 with the good old Intel 440 BX2 Motherboard? Any issues of the 5632 with this mobo? (I read about someone's post who could only run 5632 with his old mobo at 640 only)
I have this mobo, and I may upgrade to the Athlon+K7s5a, are there any guys using 5632 with k7s5a?

I am using a Dell OEM board that's equivalent to a 440 BX2, and I had no problem using this video card.

The AGP slot is supposed to be AGP 1.0 only, but it's 3.3v-enabled, so runs AGP 2.0 cards just fine.

The power supply is rated as a 200W, but runs everything I throw at it (dual HDs, CD-ROM, DVD, o/c'ed CPU, o/c'ed graphics card, you name it)

Got to say this Dell machine has some quality components.

Thanks Blahsome.
Btw is this card an AGP2.0 or AGP4.0?? coz I read someone saying that it's an AGP Pro Card, I thought AGP pro's are superior to 4.0, am I right?

I just built a machine for a friend at work last week using K7S5A and this card. No problems at all running under WinXP.

Yes, I am using this card with an ECS K7S5A. It works flawlessly. I did have this card installed on an Abit KT7 board and I had to reset the BIOS to get it to work, but after I did that it worked fine on the ABIT too. I replaced the Abit board because of some stabilty issues that kept getting worse. Even though the Abit cost me $140 when it came out, it's not as fast or stable as the K7S5A that I paid $56 for at newegg.com! The 3Dmark2001 scores and memory performance are slightly better on the K7S5A. I am currently using SDRAM in my system, (same RAM that was on the Abit). In spite of the fact that there is little CPU overclocking capability on the K7S5A, I am VERY happy with it. Besides, if you pair this board up with a fast Athlon XP, there really is no NEED to overclock. I am very satisfied with the stability and performance of the SIS735/GTS-V combination. And to think, those 2 items cost me $105 plus shipping at newegg.com!
