This card rocks... got it clocked to 215/360. after the Detonator 27.20's poking and tweaking and overclocking I 3dmark at 2905.. Not bad for cheap Duron 950 system with a cheap pcchips motherboard that can only run PC133 @ PC100....

Looks like Newegg has changed the pic of the video RAM. It now shows the 7ns (I think it showed the 5.5ns when I ordered it) and it says "For Reference ONLY" under the pic.

<< I don't think that system could keep up with the GF2 TI... it might be slightly faster, but not enough to justify addt'l cost, unless you're counting on running at high resolutions. If you wanted to keep the video card thru your next system upgrade, that might be a better reason to get the TI, or maybe not, since a vid card is a lousy long-term investment. >>

IC, my brother uses this pc. It currently has a 1st gen geforce2 MX. I just want to get a vid card that uses the maximum potential of the pc, which isn't much. So I'm debating whether to get him a geforce2 Ti or this GTS-V. From your advice, I'll opt for the GTS-V.

I was assuming the existing vid card was older than that... Depending on the game, you may not see a huge difference, especially if that GF2MX is pretty overclockable. I'm not entirely certain about that, as I've never had a 'MX card and I haven't time to "play" with my new GF2-GTS-V, but my initial impression is that in some circumstances, it may not be much better than an old Viper TNT2 I have o'c in a 1GHz box. You might want to scour the 'net for some older benchmarks, it might be most cost effective to upgrade the CPU to some thing like a Celery 1Ghz or lesser Celery o'c to 1+Ghz instead, or in addition to the new vid card.

I got mine today. REV. C with 7ns. :( I wish I'd known before I ordered that I wouldn't be getting the 5.5ns model. Luck of the draw.

It depends on how 3D dependant are the games you play. Most new games are, to some extent. I'd say go for it for anything less than a geforce 256 DDR or GF2 MX.

Got my GeForce card today, after ordering Late Thursday early Friday Came with 5.5 onboard mem. Just installed an used the drivers that came with it. Here are my 3D marks:
ATI Rage Fury 128 32Mem: 715 3D marks
ATI Radeon 7500 64 Mem : 1936 3D marks
GeForce GTS-V 32 Mem : 1969 3D Marks
Notes: I score just 231 below Max Paynes recommended 3D marks score on a system I bought 2 years 2 months ago, with a $60 dollar Video card! I score better with this card than with a ATI card that cost a hundred dollars more. Doesn't seem to have a DVD player included. Someone have a tip for finding a good DVD Software player for this card.
All at 1024x768, ASUS P3B-f motherboard
PIII 500
384 mem, ME
will probably get a Cely 1000 soon:

I just got this card 2/4/02 as an upgrade from a Voodoo3 3000 AGP OC?d to 190mhz. I was thrilled to find that my card came with 5.5ns Infineon RAM. These 5.5ns RAM chips have a nominal speed of 183mhz, or 366mhz DDR. (see www.infineon.com) Because of this, I am running the memory at 360mhz DDR since ?coolbits? only allows the ram to be clocked that high in the current BIOS. The core is running at 210mhz with no artifacts with Artifact Tester and no problems in games. I have heard that not all of these cards have 5.5ns RAM though, in fact, the pictures at newegg.com show 7ns RAM.

My 3dMark2001 went from 1563 to 2838 under W2K with an Athlon T-Bird 800mhz OC'd to 900mhz with a 100mhz FSB on an ABIT KT7 motherboard. The only issue was that I had to clear my BIOS settings using the CMOS jumper on the motherboard in order to have the card function properly. I believe that this was due to the fact that I had optimized my BIOS settings for the Voodoo card. Anyway, I am VERY happy with this card. For $49, you can't go wrong! If you are using an older video card, buy this one right away!

I read on the newegg.com review forum that some users had flashed a GeForce2 Pro BIOS to this card. Is there any advantage to this other than increasing the amount you can overclock with coolbits? Does anyone here know what GeForce2 Pro BIOS to use? Has anyone on this forum had success in doing this? Thanks in advance!

I currently have antiquated Nvidia TNT2 32 MB card, would this Xtasy 5632 be a significant improvment or should I save my money for a Geforce2 Ti. I'm currently running a PIII 733 w/ 256 RAM. Also, I have a TV capture card (ATI- TV Wonder VE) would a better card improve my video capture.

Thanks,

Does anybody else have a problem with this video card booting up on an Abit KT7 motherboard?

Whenever I have the system off for some time and I "cold boot" the screen just stays black or looks scrambled. If I then do a warm boot by pressing the reset button, the screen comes up fine.

I have an Abit KT7 Raid and I have to reset the computer 75% of the time on start-up. I get the long beep and two short beeps and no boot. Kind of a hassle but I got used to it. The card is nice for the money.

Yes, I had problems on the KT7. I had to clear my BIOS with the CMOS jumper to get the card to work at all. Also, I read in one of the GeForce FAQ's that there can be numerous problems if you are upgrading from a Voodoo.

I got an Xtasy with 7ns memory. I have an AMD 950 t-bird on a kt133 based mobo (the Andara barebones deal of a few months ago) with 133 FSB -- running XP Pro (from the Lava lamp deal of a few months ago). Nothing (cpu, video, fsb) is over-clocked. I get consistent 3dMark2001 scores in the 3030 range. I was a little concerned about getting the 7ns chips, but after reading your numbers I don't feel so bad.

380s for 5.5ns RAM is kinda low.... I think Visiontek lowers the voltage on the MEM... anyone know a voltage tweak for the card?

I had that problem also on both my systems (see below) with this card - make sure you remove all traces of old video cards - boot up in safe mode and go into the device manager and delete everything that is video related - then goto add/remove programs and delete everything there also (video card related drivers).

After doing that, re-boot in normal mode and re-install the card with the supplied drivers - it should work perfectly after that - I already posted about this problem earlier in this thread a coupla weeks ago - as well as others.

Search within this thread ;)

Got a technical question/problem with this card.

I got two of these, put both in clean install machines. One was ECS k7s5a/Duron 950/Win XP machine and it works fine with latest drivers. Put the other in a Abit KA-7/Classic Athlon 750 machine. With latest drivers, it locks up in less than a minute in either Win2k Service Pack 2 or Win XP with the latest driver, seems to work OK with drivers installed by Windows or the ones that came on the CD. Anyone have any suggestions/solutions besides (yet another) reformat and reinstall of everything to get back to the older drivers. BTW, on this machine it turns out I have to use Win2k because don't have the Win XP driver for DSL's NIC.

So if I ordered this card today from Newegg, what is the chance I will get the 5.5ns RAM????

Thanks
