Picked mine up at the local OD this evening, just need to replace the Linksys router I have right now with it. Seems like a pretty good unit just from what I've read online.

thanks! picked one up as well! looks like a nice unit... so uhhh, it looks like some ppl have already started posting their 'extras' on Ebay: UPC barcode has been carefully removed for rebate purposes. - sound familiar??? ; )

how did you manage to pick it up locally, since the price at the b&m stores are $120 or so 🙁

Order online, apply coupon, and at the checkout select the pick it up option. Print out your confirmation email, go to the store you selected and drive home with it. Simple as that.

Order online, apply the coupon and there's a pickup in store option, I had to pickup in store because the website was oos. I'll be getting out there tomorrow hopefully...if the snow isn't too bad. (Edit: too slow)

Yeah, I know.. I ordered mine at work and selected the Office Depot that was close to my way home. I went in after work and brought my email confirmation, the customer service guy looked confused. He said he couldn't find such order. When he double checked on the computer, my order did show up but they didn't get any notification of my order. But he was nice and grabbed on off the shelf and fullfilled my order. I was lucky that they have them in stock.

Can I connect this thing with another router and just set it up as an access point? has anyone done this?

Go back a few messages in this thread. See my post on 01/16/2003 10:53 PM for the answer to that question.

In all fairness though, I haven't done this yet w/ the Siemens router (as I just ordered mine yesterday); however, I have done the exact same thing w/ a WIRELESS/WIRED Netgear MR814 router (connected to my WIRED D-LINK DI-704P router). My D-LINK router has a print server built in but isn't wireless. My Netgear, while its wireless, doesn't have a print server.

I'm going to replace both of those routers w/ the Siemens and reduce my hardware clutter a bit.

The shelf tag price at my B&M said both $87.29 and $57.29 after rebate.

What am I doing wrong?

I tried Diggler's method with the preview office depot page. I found a zipcode that has them in stock, I go to the order info page and fill out my address, credit card, etc, but when I click on "Submit Order" it takes me to a page that says "Insufficient Stock, this item can not be placed in your cart."

What are you guys doing differently? If I use my zipcode it tells me they're OOS right away, but with other zipcodes it lets me try to submit my order and then fails.

I tried taking my order details into a BM OD this morning but the manager wouldn't accept an online coupon code. People that have done this, what did you show to the manager? Just the code?

Thanks all, great deal!

I finally got mine...
Had trouble finding the place on the OD website for entry of 16006100
...also had a little trouble finding it at anyplace except savinghunter.xxx
Thanks to all! 😀 for helping to get it under $36.00
There is another good deal on wireless PC card from buy.com SKU 10258306 (thanks, awrong)
Don't forget this for what amounts to $19.22 AR.😀

I would imagine the same way OD delivers items to people who order stuff at OfficeDepot.com but live nowhere near an OD: UPS/FedEx/Airborne.

TheDiggler would be correct. I have zero OD's near me since they all closed down a few years ago. I get my stuff through one of the above mentioned shippers.

hhhmm out of 152 users, 57% said that it was a POS ! some of the comments .. I also had problems as you stated above but here's what I did.

When you get to the order page, enter the coupon code first then click "Apply" next to the coupon code entry.

Then enter your address, credit card and other info, then click "Place Order"

I live in SF but ordered from Seattle 🙂

PS: If you already have a OD user ID, don't use it. IF you do, they won't let you buy from other locations.

It's entirely possible that OD patched the preview.officedepot.com web-site from allowing this exploit to continue working. As another member posted though, make sure you "Apply" the coupon code before submitting your order. Maybe that's what it takes. (I did that w/ my order and listed that step in my instructions. The instructions said for to UPDATE your order w/ the coupon code. That meant to click the "Apply" coupon button).

In that case, your post is a very good HEADS UP that people should TRY OUT THE ROUTER for a few weeks before CUTTING THE UPC CODE OFF THE BOX! If they experience such horrible results, they can return it. 🙂

good to hear. I'm in socal, but its coming from washington 😉

If you look at most of these issues, these people are complaining about the previous model, but under this models feedback! There were some people with issues, but most routers have something someone will complain about.
